"Again you're trying to insert more meaning than is actually there. Calling it "okay" is not calling it "an achievement""
thing is, you're celebrating being normal, which isn't really normal.
"And really, it's not much of an achievement to be born blind, deaf, gay, black, or female (for example) either, now is it? There's nothing any more special about any of them than there is about white people, males, normal (ie able-bodied) people, and conservatives."
never said it was an achievement to be any of those, hence why i don't go to pride parades (unless they're in a city far away, in which case i use that as an excuse to go ride a train to a place).
"Achievements come from what you do with your life. You don't get a special achievement just for being born to circumstances you had no say over, no matter if you're normal or abnormal."
i will say, in defense of pride parades, the celebration comes from having endured years of oppression. of course, lgbt people today (in the united states) don't experience what was going on decades ago, and the pride parades are excessive, which is why it irks a lot of people (and gives a dangerous platform to those who oppose gay marriage).
