The funniest/saddest part about this particular climate debate was how they finally answered my repeated requests for citations by citing some sources that did not support their proposition at all. They danced around gleefully and high-fived each other for posting 4 articles that probably took them all of 5 seconds to find on Google.
What they said the articles said was: "They're predicting the end of the world in 10 years!"
What the articles *actually* said was: we have 10-12 years in which to act decisively to reduce emissions to avoid the worst of the damage going forward. That's just not the same as saying the world is going to end in 10 years, at all. No one is saying that.
And of course they totally dismissed the substance of the articles, which was: Yes, we do need to act, and now.
Yes, it's frustrating and exhausting to deal with this stuff, but this issue is just too important to ignore.
