They have finally been honest and confirmed all the "paranoid" 2a folks suspicions that the Dems actually do want to take our guns, and that they are the tyrants that the Constitution warned us about.

I never said they were. I said that the Dot Com boom happened under Clinton, which is factually correct.

Credit should really go to the conditions around the Californian technology center, but that was about as liberal as it gets anyway so. Yeah.

If you REALLY want to trace it back to where it belongs, it all started at CERN, but Republicans were just as hostile to CERN then as they are now.

Whichever direction you want to pursue it, I'm covered.

Necessity created the boom, not any policy in particular. It was destined to happen as technology increased. People should stop falling into the belief that Presidents do that much for an economy if they can't point to an actual policy that is correlated to an uptick in the market. Clinton was president during that time, but didn't sign any laws that weren't written and approved by the Republican Congress and Senate. The environment that cultivated the boom was a decade in the making, predating Clinton anyway. It's not like the tech industry didn't exist and all of sudden popped into being just because Clinton was elected.
[deleted]

The tech industry flourished because of their access to college graduates and investment for research for the sake of research, with tax breaks specific to tech startups. There is a reason why Silicon Valley is not in Texas! That is something that Democrats are very, very good at. (If you were paying attention during the Obama years, high tech manufacturing did well in the 2010's also - it was the low end manufacturing base that kept complaining.) And, like I said, the connection to CERN is critical and Republicans do not like CERN and never have - they have obstructed federal funding for it many times over; something to do with it being part of a globalist conspiracy or some shit, don't ask me.

And it really isn't a coincidence that the internet as we know it really took off while the White House was Democrat.

“Opposing the Civil Rights Act” is a funny way of framing legislation passed under the LBJ Administration.

Yes, there were racist “Southern Democrats” who opposed it, but they left the Democratic Party after that and... guess where they went?

This is a lie by Dems who want to distance themselves from their own history. Name the Dems who switched. Do some research instead of blindly repeating what the Left tells you.
[deleted]

So true!

1 up, 5y
The vote count of the Civil Rights Act. Notice that the support was overwhelmingly Northern on both parties; in fact, the ONLY Southern Senator to support it was a Democrat.
2 ups, 5y
Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, and Mills E. Godwin Jr. are “Dixiecrats” who switched to the GOP after the Civil Rights Act passed.

In addition to untold numbers of southern Democratic voters: as seen by the fact that the South has become a Republican firewall. Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” devised after the Civil Rights Act was a smashing success.

The OP meme is incorrect in stating Democrats “opposed” the Civil Rights Act. The CRA was passed with bipartisan support under the strong backing of LBJ’s Democratic administration.

I never said the “great switch” happened overnight. It was not a switch of specific politicians themselves (although that did happen) so much as Southern voters themselves. I agree with you it did take a generation for the South to become the firewall for Republicans that it is today. However, I do think southern Democratic attitudes on race evolved more quickly than that.

I’m not the one here trying to prove that “Democrats are the real racists,” here, which is what the OP meme heavily implies and what I was responding to.

If “Dems are the real racists” is what you’re really trying to prove here: you still have some work to do despite your eloquent rebuttal of a mischaracterized opinion.

Yeah, whole lot of race baiting by Obama because he allowed himself to become President instead of the pure white guy that should have held the Office?

So Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Reagan, Bush and Bush were Liberals? Oh, and Trump also?
Interesting.

Oh believe me, I’m fully aware that’s you’re attacking my arguments only. Why? Because I’m a liberal and OP is a conservative. I just popped in to voice disagreement with an easily falsifiable premise of the OP meme, that is all. And then you popped in to attack me.

Racism is obviously a hotly contested topic that is subject to debate and multiple viewpoints.

However, I will say this in response to you: In our present day and going back quite a few years, black voters in every geographic region have favored the Democratic Party overwhelmingly.

I think those voters are smart, know their own interests, and who sticks up for them. But I have seen a tremendous amount of condescension toward black voters here on this website: including “modern-day plantation” tropes (one was just posted yesterday featuring a KKK rally) which must be incredibly insulting to them.

Why is so it hard to believe that blacks overwhelmingly vote Democratic because they like Democrats?

The Democratic Party at every level of leadership has far more blacks than the GOP.

Oh yeah: first black President thing too, almost forgot that.

LBJ said that ^

In 1996 someone said they heard that LBJ said 30 plus years prior that, "I'll have them ni**ers voting Democrat for the next 200 years!"
Thing is, no one else recalls this. Nor was it ever stated prior by anyone, and that would seem to include LBJ himself.

"Of course black voters have favored the Democratic party overwhelmingly: they give them free stuff."

Who gives whom wha?

"But the party of race is still the Democrats...which, interestingly enough, gave rise to the current black racism we see so much in America in 2019, the result of 8 years of relentless race baiting from Obama and his administration (and his wife.)"

"... comment..."first black president"...as if being the first "anything" has any meaning. And you say it because race DOES matter to you, and you see Obama primarily as a BLACK man. The color of his skin is important to you."

Of course this is where you pretend YOU weren't projecting your view of Obama as a so-called 'black,' nor was this imaginary "current black racism" you blame him for was about these 'blacks' either?

THAT'S covert racism.

“Democrats enslave blacks.” I’m just gonna let that sit there.

Believe me, I enjoy a lively good debate, especially with those who disagree with me. But it’s just not really worth my time to engage much more if you are this far down the rabbit hole, and willing to be this careless, reckless, and hyperbolic in your use of language around this sensitive subject.

I’ll say this though: Obama’s skin color and the skin color of other Democratic politicians are not “important to me.” This is merely highly relevant information for debating the premise that “Democrats are the real racists,” a thesis which you and countless others on this website seem hell-bent on proving.

No one said being black in America is a cake-walk. The black community struggles with its problems, and no one is more keenly aware of them than blacks themselves. Democrats have not solved everything, by a long shot, but of the the two main parties Democrats consistently advocate for greater economic and social equality. And that’s why blacks vote (D) so heavily.

You're wasting time with a professional IRA shill.
Look at my 2 quickies.
Look at his ass toot rebuttal.

Skip the distractions, and focus on his hypocritical holes. Ronald Reagan was a Liberal elected by Liberal GOPers and a bunch of Reagan (racist) Democrats. Trump is a Leftist.
THAT'S essentially what he's saying.

You're racist for saying Obama was "black." He's not by saying Obama was a black who fomented black racism against the beleaguered white male privileged class trope.

THAT'S what he's saying.

1st black president, huh?

1st black republican senator: Hiram Revels 1870, then another at 1875, 1967

1st black deomocrat senator: Carol Braun 1993

1st black republican in congress: Joesph Rainey 1870, then 14 more in the 19th century.

1st black democrat in congress: Arthur Mitchell 1935

Idk I wonder if dems gaslighting them into thinking all repubs are racist has something to do with it. The tables are turning tho.

And it's funny how you seem to suffer the soft bigotry of low expectations. I assure you the black imgflip users are more than capable of standing up on their own here without biazou's.

—More “gaslighting” language, as if black voters aren’t fully capable of thinking and making decisions for themselves

—More blacks in positions of leadership at every level of the Democratic Party

—I can be an ally of black folks and amplify their voices without necessarily sharing their skin color. I certainly think I’m doing a better job of it than the condescending characterizations of black political attitudes offered by conservatives in this comments section.

But yes, I’d love it if a black ImgFlipper chimed in here!
