You're not truly a person until you are born. That's just my opinion. But it's also, in effect, the opinion of the U.S. government itself, as evidenced by the fact that the government gives you the following at birth: 1. Recognition of your full legal name; 2. Your birth certificate; 3. Automatic birthright citizenship; 4. Your SSN.
Some states ban abortion in the third trimester, but I don't think that's because they take the view that the fetus is a person yet. I think the justification for those laws is that at the point of fetal viability, the fetus's potential claim to life at that point overcomes the mother's say in the matter. I'm sympathetic to that viewpoint, actually. But in those states they still don't have names or ID's yet, until they are born.
You guys are the ones seeking radical change around this issue, not us.
