It's probably one of the reasons many people don't trust either party. How do you know who to trust, if anyone, when the parties are constantly pandering?
I had to learn to look at who was being persecuted and who was being propped up as saintly and go with the opposite.

talking with each other,finding out why we think/feel the way we do.
sharing information and sources.
I tend to gravitate towards places that I know do not think the way I do.
I am obviously not a republican,(not a lib dem either) but I visit this stream which leans to the right.

why?
because,in my opinion,residing in an echo chamber where everyone is agreeing and saying the same thing is one of the most dangerous conditions I have witnessed in my country over the past two decades.
confirmation bias only serves to soothe our fears and anxieties,and excludes contrary opinion that may challenge those biases.
It produces reactionaries,with rigid ideologies,who at the first sign of pushback become shrieking harpies,because the flawed bedrock they have built their house of cards cannot withstand even a modicum of pushback.

the way I look at it is that if my ideas or political views cannot withstand even a minute bit of scrutiny,then maybe those ideas are shit,and need to be discarded.

the only way to do that is to wade in unfamiliar waters,with unfamiliar ideas.
a human will have an argument for their position,and we can have a productive back and forth.
a muppet will devolve into a shrieking harpy throwing insults and outrage.
we see it all the time here on imgflip,and muppets come in all flavors.

and I do enjoy slapping muppets around.

If it's true then you should be able to substantiate it, right? I have been down this road many times. 2-3 politicians changed but there was not some switch as the Democrats have been lying about. No organization has been more racist in America than the DNC. Even after LBJ signed his "War on Poverty", he was overheard saying that "Now I'll have those Ni&&ers voting Democrat for the next 200 years - and this was at the height of the Civil Rights movement. If anyone should pay reparations to blacks then it should be the DNC. Republicans we lynched also - that is white Republicans who were fighting for the rights of black people.

You do realize that the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings were a ramping up of the shit that was done to Clarence Thomas? Just like Christine Ford, Anita Hill was propped up to put out some made up story about pubic hair on a Coke can in order to prevent Thomas' confirmation as a SCOTUS justice. Why didn't Anita Hill complain when it actually happened? Because it never happened in the first place.
