Was about to say inefficient infrastructure. Does the state of amtrak count in all that?

I would think so. The fact that the only place they seem to focus is the Northeast corridor and f the rest of the country is shameful. My town was supposed to get connected to the Amtrak system, but asshole Governor Walker wouldn’t do it

seems like walker was caving in to lobbyists. that's often the problem with the political empathy towards improving amtrak. congress is so filled with wall street that no one cares about the people anymore.

Well what was proposed was expanding the rail lines from Milwaukee to Green Bay, possibly further north in the future and it was going to be fully funded by the federal government. Walker rejected that and opted to improve parts of US 41 (the main highway between the two cities). Green Bay, northern Winnebago county, and Milwaukee were the only parts of the highway to get any actual improvements. The other parts of the highway are congested and crumbling and accidents happen all the time. Thankfully we voted Walker out finally so maybe there's still hope?

Thank goodness he's out. the diseased view on highways, i find, is that politicians think that adding an extra lane will help. what people don't know is that amtrak and other train services can be used to stimulate the economy.

There at least seems to be more investment into trains across the country. California is building their high speed rail project between LA and San Francisco, Texas is building one between Dallas and Houston, and private companies like Virgin Rail are starting to build up their own networks. Personally I think the freight companies should consider looking into the passenger rail market, they have the rail and capital to do it.

That's true. I'm hoping more private companies step up as well (similar to Virgin and Texas Central), particularly to build rail links in the southeast and around the Chicago area.
