I have a co-worker, who while attending college full time, also worked a full time job, so she wouldn't have a student loan to pay off when she graduated.

So now, klowns like you and AOC are going to tell her that she did all that for nothing?

Are you going to reimburse her for her tuition, just to level the playing field with those who got loans instead of working as hard as she did?

How far back does this go? Am I in line for a refund, too?

Speaking of loan forgiveness, only the govt or private institutions own this debt. If owned by a private institution, you cannot force them to forgive a debt. That's what your pals in Stalinist Russia would do.

If the debt is owned by the federal govt, it means it's actually owned by taxpayers. Are you just expecting all of us to say, no worries, your loan is good?

Maybe we'd like some of that money paid back, so it doesn't come out of our pockets?

Usually it's only snowflakes like you who are "whiny". I'm only whiny when people say stupid things, like "spectacular job missing my point" when their point is either painfully unclear, or so absurd that it makes no sense.

So unless "loan forgiveness" means anything other than what those two words, combined, mean in modern English, then I stand by my original point.

When it's my money that will be given away to pay back slackers who didn't work through college, and who ran up huge student debt while others did work so they wouldn't have that debt, then I don't care if loan forgiveness goes back to the Sumerians. They shouldn't have their loans forgiven.

You didn't explain what you mean by loan forgiveness, unless ALL you mean is that it's been done historically, and that's why we should do it now. What the hell kind of justification is that?.

Just back on the flip as of today. See, this is what I was thinking you're talking about. Not this book specifically, but just some historical tradition of forgiving debts.

It doesn't work that way!

One person cannot say to another that they have to forgive a debt.

I'm sure you're a nice person... you did wish me a great weekend... sincerely, right? :-) But that doesn't mean you can be nice to people who racked up student loan debt by forcing others to forgive that debt.

Fairness just doesn't work that way.

To be fair college tuition is vastly overpriced. I'd agree if they were forced to lower the cost.
