Actually Stalin was a Christian and even trained to become a priest, then used the methods of organised religion to oppress and murder his own people. He attacks the Church as it was a threat to his power but in WWII then supported and promoted Orthodox Christianity as motivation to fight the Germans. Even after the war Orthodox Christianity in the SU rapidly expanded again, with thousands of Churches reopening and as long as they didn't question the Communisty government they were left alone.

So yes, Stalin was a murderous arsehole of the highest order, but he was no committed atheist, so please get your facts right.

I BET you didn't read a single biography on this bastard. My work on interpreting the archives has actually been used in writings of biographies and history books. You don't have to believe me, but you do have to read actual research to be able to write an opinion as stupid as the one you wrote. stalin's religious education had no influence on his rule. The church was actually used for spying purposes. Tens of thousands were murdered by the soviet regime from 1924 to 1941 for the crime preaching religion or taking kids to church. I personally interpreted hundreds of verdicts.

Neither this nor what the mozais-idiot said in comments is true. stalin was a brutal gangster in Georgia (the country). He met the commie revolutionaries in prison. When he got out he continued to be a gangster and murderer but he was even more brutal now because he was raising money and getting weapons for the revolutionaries. He was one of a number of notorious gangsters that were recruited in this way - and then became major players in the communist party.
