BREAKING: president does thing presidents do

Thats not the point of the Hearings, They are about how Trump allegedly "tried to blackmail Ukrine into investigating Biden" and not about Ambassadors getting fired. To frame it as such would be... dishonest.

I am sick and tired and absolutely disgusted that I have to defend Dems, but please for the love of god, stop undermining the Democratic and only process to hold a President accountable.

Except this dipshit female "ambassador" explicitly cried about being fired.

So?

It was drama for drama's sake. Or a joke.

Probably, though from what I saw, the questions were more in the direction of "Why were you fired" and not "How do you feel about being fired"

To be fair though, either way, I barely see a connection to Trump

Actually, I think it was both.

Hard to believe Obama or Bush would be so called out for anything like this.

Every president makes mistakes, and when they do there are terrible consequences. It's the worst part of a really, really crappy job.

This president, though, makes mistakes in the most easily avoidable of places. Like, seriously, all you have to do is surround yourself with (and then listen to) people who are smarter than you, and you'll be ok. To do that, though, you have to recognize that those people exist, hire them, and keep them around. In her case, he didn't even have to hire her. All he had to do was listen to her when she raised red flags.

I admit that Trump should have picked better people around him.
1 up, 5y
I think his continued difficulty in finding good people (and inability to keep the ones he had) is an indication that he doesn't recognize what makes someone "good" in the governmental sphere. And I don't blame him for that in the beginning, considering he had no prior governmental experience before taking the presidency.

However, in a situation like this there is a responsibility on the part of the president's party to equip him properly. I don't doubt the RNC did what they could, but this particular president does not take instruction, from anyone, even when he is not well-versed in the subject. This trait is the polar opposite of what a president should be.

What makes you think I would want that? Calling out misogyny is in no way related to...

Oh, you're operating on the assumption that the only reason someone would call out misogyny is if they wanted to get laid by the person being discriminated against. Like a knight in shining armor, defending the honor of a defenseless damsel.

Not because misogyny is wrong, or because it perpetuates itself, or because it further enables violence against women. No, it's because I want a screw.

How quaint.

Violence... lol

Sure, to you.

In all honesty, I'm f**king with you. The comment wasn't that misogynist.
2 ups, 5y,
2 replies
Yeah, I picked up on that ;) Thanks for the chuckle.

It wasn't, "Women aren't smart enough to be ambassadors," true. It wasn't THAT misogynist. It was still misogynist, though - there's only one reason to include "female" in there, and that's to insinuate (consciously or unconsciously) that it's a job that women aren't particularly suited for. Not that NO women can do it, sure, there are lots of exceptional women out there, but come on, it's a job that men are naturally better equipped for, right?

It's those lesser bits of misogyny that rankle, because that shit happens every. damn. day, to almost every woman I know who's been in a position of authority.

So yeah, haha and thanks for having a good attitude, SyndeyB. But also, cut that shit out, BeegtymeRawkstah.

Then why did they have an ambassador talk about being fired and how badly she felt she was treated? Just more proof that the hearings have nothing to do with high crimes and misdemeanors. It’s just a show put on by the Dems who are trying to smear the President. They’ve been doing it his entire term. I’d be tired of defending Dems too if I were you.

As I understood what I saw, it was connected to the fact that the replacement of her was allegedly enabling a Quid Pro Quo policy for Trump with Ukraine
2 ups, 5y,

Whaaaaaaa? Ambassadors don't make policy.
3 ups, 5y,

I meant that the Dems are alleging that Yovanovich was removed so a "Trump Puppet" could replace her and do his bidding or some such nonsense

Okay, but Obama fired every Dubya appointed Ambassador for the same reason, which is his right.
3 ups, 5y
Yeah and thats why I am not quite into this line of questioning.

Every *politically appointed* ambassador (read: ambassador appointed to an easy post as a reward for political support, like, say, to the UN). She wasn't one of those. She'd earned her job by serving for 30 years in the State Dept as a diplomat and as the ambassador to two other nations previously.

You don't fire one of those unless you've got an agenda.
0 ups, 5y,
1 reply
Like it or not, the president has the final say.
0 ups, 5y
He sure does. And hey, if firing someone who is completely loyal to her country and has decades of diplomatic experience under her belt (enough to earn a placement in one of the most difficult ambassadorships on earth) to install someone who's willing to do you a domestic political solid (jeopardizing the freedom of an entire nation and relationships with an entire continent in the process) seems worth it to you, and you're the president, you can do that.

That idiotic decision won't come without consequences, though. Especially if the favor you want is actually illegal.

that's ripe.. the ones undermining that process right now (the same thing I said about the blow job thing) are the ones running a politically driven witch hunt and calling it "impeachment".

is that what I said in my comment that you needed a citation for since you're too lazy to read up on the Clinton impeachment because "you were just a toddler and can't comment" ?
0 ups, 5y,
1 reply
Well yesn't. Your the one claiming the impeachment is a witch hunt. All I am asking for is for you to provide citation to back up your point.

""you were just a toddler and can't comment" ?"

At the time yes. I cant comment on the topic of Clinton Admin, since I know next to nothing about it.

That is correct.
0 ups, 5y,

so is it my responsibility to provide you with the information you need to comment? the information that would make you realize that it was also a witch hunt?
0 ups, 5y
No. I think we have a misunderstanding here.

I told you that I would like to see some citations backing up your claims.

I then told Sydney that I cant comment on the Clinton Administration since I have next to no info on it.

Since your the one claiming its a witch hunt, then yes you should be the one to provide the evidence to me.

the connection is BOTH WERE POLITICALLY DRIVEN WITCH HUNTS.
