Is there any proof that she lied?

To be clear, I don't mean proof that she isn't (or is barely) Native American... I mean proof that she knew she wasn't and was being intentionally deceptive. Seems entirely possible her story of being told she was part Native was true.. (I was told something similar as a child)

She put out her dna results as if that vindicated her. Seems sketchy to me. She should have had ANY proof besides 'high cheekbones' if she was going to take a spot from an actual minority.

Ok.. Let's look at that.. I mean she doesn't strike me as a genius or anything but if she already knew that she was not Native American.. taking an actual DNA test would seem ridiculously stupid, no? Like a murderer trying to take a DNA test to exonerate himself..

She probably got the results back and was like.... F*ck... maybe I can Trump my way out of this one.

Yeah, your post did make me think twice. But it's one thing to believe you have a certain heritage and it's another to profit off of it. At least she has a plausible excuse, unlike a scumbag grifter like Shaun King.

Besides just the cheekbones, there was and is overwhelming evidence in her physical appearance, to indicate she was NOT a 'native american' -- and, of course, she'd have been thoroughly aware of that... BUT, there likely was someone in the staffs of those universities who would have -- and should have -- noticed the obvious gaming of the system... Which means they would have been 'in on it'.

I joke that everyone from PA to the South is part Cherokee, because everyone I've met from them places claims it, regardless of how much they don't look it.

and under the circumstances here- it would seem that is debatable.

1. As far as I can tell at no point did she ever admit to lying about this.

2. Nor did she ever apologize for lying about it. Yes she apologized for "harm she caused" for thinking that she could determine if she is Native via her own DNA test. (Apparently only Native American Tribal leaders can determine your Native status. If you try to do it yourself via DNA test that is considered offensive or something.. ). And for "not being mindful".. and she claimed "mistakes were made".. and that she had "listened and learned a lot".. but based on all the footage I watched, she never apologized for (allegedly) lying.

3. Unless you can provide a video link I haven't already seen, I'd have to say that you are not dealing in facts.

Unless & until YOU prove what's common knowledge to the rest of the non meme site trolling crowd is a "half truth", you're the one not dealing in " facts".

The key statement here is " as far as YOU could tell".
Your admittance of lack of knowledge on the subject you felt able to critique.

Nice list of headlines. Did you actually watch the footage though? At no point does she ever actually acknowledge lying. She even tells her "when I was growing up in Oklahoma" story about being told she was Native American to a reporter almost immediately after it... When someone is apologizing for lying they usually don't immediately tell the lie again after apologizing for it, right?

Only tribal leaders can determine Native-ness but she claimed it based on a story she heard from her family as a kid... and she claimed it again based on a DNA test which was miniscule at best.

So she is apologizing to Native Americans for harm she may have caused to their community for claiming she was Native without any tribal leader authorization.. she is not apologizing to the American public for lying.

I am still open to the possibility that footage exists somewhere else of her flat out admitting that she lied. Maybe YouTube buried it, I don't know.
