Most here understand the difference between a liberal and a leftist and try to respect it. My scale goes like this: Liberal, leftist, shitlib, libf**k. Or tolerable, intolerable, jail, get the helicopter ;)
Well, if you believe that it is an ineffective and expensive solution, then what is the purpose? The purpose would be symbolic, - a simplistic solution that would appeal to people for not necessarily the best reasons. Opposing a solution that you disagree with is not the same as advocating open borders.
When did I ever say that I thought the wall was ineffective? The CBP has seen reduction in illegal crossings where the new border wall has been constructed. Numbers don't lie.
Police in sanctuary cities are being fired for working with ICE...they're being fired for enforcing the law...that they swore an oath to uphold. California was CAUGHT RED HANDED registering illegal aliens to vote. Journalists have written stories about the welfare fraud committed by illegal aliens.
They're being encouraged by democrat policies. Democrats are baiting the border, and opposing the wall.
@MichaelRichey - you didn't say that, but you were talking about the Democratic Candidates. I was referring to them when I said, "if you believe it is an ineffective ... solution"
No, that's not true. Most illegal immigrants results from people overstaying their visas. Also, the number of illegal border crossings at the Mexico / US border sharply dropped since 2000. Those are the facts.
CBP has reported a significant drop in illegal crossings where the wall construction has been completed, which is what the border wall is designed to affect.
Moving the goalpost doesn't work with me. I never said that it would affect visa overstays.
The question becomes, what is the most effective way to spend the money? Would more wall reduce the numbers, or would other measures be more effective? I don't know what the answers are, but I do know that just because you don't think building more wall would be useful, that is not the same thing as wanting open borders. These are complicated questions, and the wall is a simplistic solution that is not necessarily effective.
I don't buy that stereotype. While it is true that Democrats believe in government programs that benefit people, Republican tax cuts and military spending having been major contributors to debt / deficit.
Good point. It would seem that Americans would get more bang for their buck if they weren't providing welfare, education, housing, transportation, and health insurance to non-citizens.
And the most effective way to spend the money would be on bullets and snipers. If the border is a death sentence to those crossing it illegally, I would be willing to bet that the numbers of illegal crossings would approach zero.
Why not mine fields? That would be the most bang for the buck ;)
A study by FAIR concluded (Derided by some) that illegals costs US taxpayers 116 billion dollars a year. Alot more than a fence or wall, regardless. The true fact is the left wants people in that will get citizenship eventually and vote democrat. They know if they can turn a few states blue, like Texas, the Republicans won't get the White House for decades, and it'll probably take a civil war to get rid of socialism/communism. The dems will just change all the rules to keep power.
Except that while few Democrats would outright admit to being open borders, they support sanctuary cities, welfare for illegals, voting rights for illegals (which they voted for in congress this year), amnesty, catch and release. They oppose proper border security. All of these things are lures for illegal immigration.
@DemocratsAreTheEvil if you click on the Best First drop down arrow at the top, it will change to latest first. Sometimes it's easier to figure out who said what to whom then. At least your insults will make more sense if you do that.
