at what time of each year? i would guess winter cause most glaciers do regain some ice in the winter, but that doesnt mean there isnt a net loss, especially when you are looking at ONE glacier

While it was thought that its position and resulting ocean currents are what rendered Antartica into the ice covered land we know, for some unkown reason, 33 million years ago atmospheric carbon dioxide levels began to dip and have continued to do so since (except for a blip 25 million years ago - the exact details I'm not familiar with).
