The GOP was founded in 1854 by opponents of the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of slavery into certain U.S. territories. The party supported classical liberalism, opposed the expansion of slavery, and supported economic reform. Not what I would call "communist tyrants".

Lincoln never owned slaves. He was always an abolitionist and believed Blacks should be free, but he did not think them equal.

Robert E. Lee did own slaves and was considered mean and cruel. He broke up slave families and had his slaves whipped.

The Civil War was about more than slavery, but the issue of slavery was a significant issue.

I mean, why else would Dixie flags be censored so heavily by the media besides the fact that the CSA fought for freedom? After all, England would’ve felt the same way if the US lost the revolutionary war. And remember that the yanks still supported the Southern cotton insustry even during the civil war, so the North helped to make it profitable, especially since the cold climate created more demand for cotton.
