the problem,my opinion of course,is that we all tend to gravitate towards media that appeals to our base nature.
the answer, however,is much more complicated and takes diligence.
we need to realize our biases, and challenge them.
now I don't talk about my actual politics on this site, but I think it a safe assumption that I am not a neo-Nazi,alt-rightie.
peoples politics overlap.
some more than others, but they always do.
unless you are an extremist.
and it is those people, and their ideas that get the attention.
as if those small pockets of extremism represented a larger whole.
add to this mix the shills and charlatans, who are willing to sacrifice principle and integrity for money, comfort and celebrity.(rubin, hannity, maddow etc etc).
now we throw in the fact that most americans are not very educated in both politics or history, and you can see how this toxic mix can produce some bad outcomes.
so what do we do?
well, first thing we dump is corporate media.
next,we scrutinize those voices who we may have inadvertently given to much authority, and we challenge their assertions.(be they left,or right).
so if you like ben shapiro and his arguments?
go take a gander at cody Johnston and his take on shapiro.
you like steven crowder?
check out three arrows,or vaush.
but the most important thing of all is become an autodidactic .
educate yourself.
my advice for the first step?
go learn about Americas fantastic history of dissidents.
you know, the ones who are never..ever seen on tv,cable or the news.
go on youtube and watch book-span on authors who criticize American politics.
I can recommend the first one for you.
and if you really want to own the "libs",this is for you.
Thomas franks "listen liberal".
or anything by chris hedges
or henry Giroux
or noam Chomsky.
john Ralston saul
Sheldon wolin
how can we ever hope to address our problems if we see each other as the enemy?
I better stop here,or I will ramble on forever.
hope I helped.
you a good egg syd.
stop watching too much rubin,or tool...and wade into unfamiliar waters.
