Your link is to a left wing opinion page. Trump’s immigration policies are simply following the law of the land. Mexico is not a part of the US and there is no reason to campaign there for votes. Mexicans don’t have to live with Trump’s policies. They can choose to do the right thing and immigrate legally ya know.

You haven't been out much, huh? You realize that some of the largest cities in the United States is in places like Texas. Houston and San Antonio are number 4 and 7 in population, respectively. Oklahoma City has a population of over half a million, as does Kansas City and Austin and El paso.

Newsflash: there are more total people in all that "cows and grass" than there are in the major population clusters, they're just spread out much, much more because there's so much more land that /they/ control. (Not to mention the bulk of the food that those major cities rely on.)
