Their checks are beyond what is required by law. Just to appease people like the reporter who if she had done her research before attempting the story would have known.
I read they are responsible for 20% of rounds sold in U.S so they are no doubt wanting to keep those sales coming and therefore that is why they are being proactive on the gun background checks themselves.

But she was stopped by a legal requirement. It doesn't matter if more would have been required past that.
