When a parent breaks the law and is sent to prison, do the children go with them? No. So in a sense, you're right, America is separating them, but America is just a country. It's those who run the country that are doing it. But just like legal citizens who break the law, their children do follow them to prison.

A good chunk of these so-called families aren't really families and these children are being forced into the sex trade or for leverage to get the so-called parents into the country illegally. Once they're in holding you have a one way ticket in the States where they're not even kept track of.

You ignorant dumb dumbs truly believe all of these children are related to these horrid adults who continuously put them in harm's way. And you truly believe this is all Trump's doing. This crap was started long ago, you ignoramus.

Donald Trump didn’t do anything to go to jail, but if he did, his *kids* (Baron) would go to Melania.

How about you offer your home to shelter all of those illegal families if you care so much. STFU.

Why? Because you defend them so much.
Are they lining up to go to your house? Irrelevant.
Afraid of women and children? No but yes to the criminal element that is bringing in. I was a witness of a drunk illegal driver killing the husband and her two kids of a widow, nice lady also. You just be glad it was not your familly, else i am very positive you will have a different understanding.
Trumpettes? No sorry i voted for no president, i am not brain washed. But i am not a retard either and unlike you I recognize when there is a real threat.

What else you got at me shitbag?

Yeah, how dare America build that dangerously hot desert between them and Mexico, and then force the illegals to drag children, who may or may not be theirs, across said desert without enough food or water!

And how dare the American government forcibly separate Legal Immigrant families as a deterrent?

Also, civilized countries have long made a practice of separating children from parents or other custodial adults, even actual legal citizens, that have directly endangered those children's lives.

Kids have died as a result of being forced to cross that desert, are you saying the adults they were with, if any, should be rewarded for their "courage"?

Ignoring the illegality of prosecuting asylum seekers and setting aside the fact that there is no requirement to prosecute, illegal entry is a misdemeanor offense. Illegal entry is most similar to technical violations of motor vehicle law, such as driving without a license, not breaking and entering, because it amounts to nothing more than movement without a proper permit. Many misdemeanors do not even require police to take a person into custody at all. A variety of traffic offenses—including driving without a license, operating an unregistered vehicle, speeding, and other offenses—are misdemeanors in dozens of states. In general, police simply issue a summons to appear in court. If a child is in the vehicle, they are not separated from the parent pending the final dispensation of the case.

In the unusual cases in which a parent is brought into custody for such a violation, the children either wait in the police station while the parent is processed or are handed off to a relative. For example, in the case of Gail Atwater v. City of Lago Vista, a local police officer arrested Atwater for a seatbelt violation with children in the car. The officer initially said that the children could come to the police station, but allowed a friend of Atwater to pick them up. In other words, there is a massive difference between the treatment of minor offenses committed by Americans and these parents coming to the border. Moreover, if U.S. parents and children are separated for these types of offenses—as in the Atwater case—it is an outrage, not a justification for further separations.

They aren't really asylum seekers. They're full of shit and just want free housing, free healthcare, and free stuff.

Of course they aren't. You keep telling yourself that. A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth after all

Some of them are genuinely fleeing their homes in fear, but not even remotely all of them. Many of them are "economic migrants", incentivized to make the dangerous crossing by democrat policies and promises of "a better life" just being handed to them.

And don't tell me that's not true when there are democrat US presidential nominees actually campaigning IN MEXICO. Surely even you can admit that's friggin' ridiculous.

Asylum seekers are not illegally prosecuted, because they are not prosecuted at all. Asylum seekers are those who have gone through the proper legal procedures to request asylum. The people being prosecuted are illegal immigrants seeking to jump a line that legal immigrants are waiting in, and it's not just pissing off "muh white supremacists!", it's pissing off those same /legal/ immigrants who went through the proper procedures.

Long story short, you're conflating (perhaps deliberately, like AOC) legal asylum seekers and illegal border crossers.

And sure, it's easy to cite individual cases where children are separated and have been properly cared for. Try coming up with a way to handle /tens of thousands/ of children, several thousand of whom were unaccompanied. What is ICE supposed to do, just allow those thousands of unaccompanied children to roam the streets of the US?

They're doing the best they can with the funds they have, and AOC and her ilk only recently FINALLY opened up the purse strings a little bit to help, when even left-wing MSM started bitching at them to do so.

Either way it still bad. Especially when you take the Children and send the Parents home without them.

First I've heard of this. Got a source on that?

And if those children's lives were endangered by "parents" (remember, a lot of those kids are with unrelated adults who may be traffickers) dragging them across the desert, aren't they maybe better off not being put in that position again?

Well, from the sounds of that article, /some/ of the children aren't returned for various reasons, like for their own safety, or because the parents can't be found.

But in the case of children like the one the article was specifically about, I don't think that comes down to direct policy so much as bureaucratic red tape and overworked, or lazy, or perhaps even straight up racist, individuals who don't want to make the effort to make sure everything is done properly and are just trying to shove people out the doors back into Mexico as fast as they can.

I say "perhaps racist" because I'm not stupid enough to assume good intentions on the part of everyone working there, the same way I would hope you're not stupid enough to assume /bad/ intentions on the part of everyone working there.
