That's why politicians in England has called for all knives to have their points ground down and you can't buy knives if you're under 18? How many acid attacks in London compared to US cities?

Yeah, it's weird, isn't it? We have this thing where politicians actually do something about weapons when there's a problem, but how on earth London's homicide rate is so much lower than U.S. cities is just a mystery.

Mikki,ive ALWAYS thought that England & Canada had much lower rates of violent crime for the reason Micheal Moore said ;that socialized medicine,including access to mental healthcare, reduces a great deal of anger. When kids in America watch their parents die for lack of medical care,or see their inheritance vanish because their parents had to declare bankruptcy as a result of jacked up healthcare prices in the USA(people are going to MEXICO to get surgery!)-That's got to create resentment. If these kids are also orphaned, they've lost their parental guidance & have no access to counseling to deal with their grief & trauma. Sorry,but a few support group meetings won't do it for the very young. Unfortunately, in America, mental & physical health are NOT a priority of our legislators-& certainly not of this illegitimate administration.

As much as I'm a staunch believer in the NHS and universal Medicare, I'm going to have to disagree with your overall thesis.

The reason being, when you're looking at something like youth crime, there's just so much that goes into it.

What social services are available to parents who struggle? Are the schools giving the impression that they can get ahead without having to resort to the drug trade? Are they seeing that America is a place where you can have money with a legal job - are they seeing that colleges give a better life than mugging people ever can? What's the attitude of the community to corrections? And so on and so on.

You're not wrong in as much as healthcare goes in isolation, but behind every social issue is a rabbit hole of ways anything can create desperation and resentment and the cycle of hatred that can make murder seem like a rational act. And it all adds up.

And at the end of the day, how easy it is to pick up a weapon and act on your feelings is the gatekeeper. It's not the cause, but it's the last checkpoint. SydneyB for all his nonsense is so close to hitting on a major part of this, which is: you can survive a knife wound much more easily than you can survive a gun shot. And that shapes the different experiences as well.

So, it's all kind of too complex to pin on just the healthcare. (Mental health services on the NHS are not that great, if I'm being honest.)

Mikki, I know healthcare isn't all of it,but I suspect it's a big piece of the puzzle. I will NEVER forget what my uncle (now dead at 43 thanks to being uninsured, though he worked until he could walk no longer) -went through trying to find affordable counseling for his oldest son,who was molested by the family pervert(this is one of the many reasons I hate Trump so much-i've SEEN what molestation does to a child's psyche.)
My uncle wasn't able to afford help for him,& the boy went into a brutal downward spiral that he STILL struggles with.
Yes,I know you wait w/ NHS, I know that counseling isn't a magic wand, but knowing that support is offered DOES drain hostility.
My cousin went on to become a sadistic creep who shot his friend,a brilliant programmer,in the eye;he ended up with hideous brain damage & is now a bag boy at Publix. They werent even arguing.
Would access to counseling have helped? We will NEVER know..but I received counseling after a pesticide exposure gave me & our Labrador retriever cancer,& even though i am STILL upset, i haven't shot anyone yet!😢🐕💔

You could try and deflect with that tactic, but why throw acid when you have guns so easily available. As the old saying goes, you can kill more with guns that you can with acid. (Interestingly acid and bases are much more tightly regulated in the US than the UK, however the UK is now following suit. Fancy that, identifying a problem and implementing a solution...)

Did Trump actually say anything about fatalities? Most stabbings and acid attacks aren't fatal. The point with the acid and knives, is you do stop crime by a total gun ban. Ban knives and get rid of them (lol) and people will use bats or whatever.

I'd be interested to see the number of violent attacks, using whatever. I know that US violence isn't limited to guns, to be fair.

You must have been told that the safest places in the US are open carry zones and you can't just make 350 million guns vanish.

Having said all that, everyone knew that Trump would lash back after being insulted by Mr. "Terrorism is part and parcel of living in a big city" Khan, who got rid of his criminal database cuz the results were 'racist'.

Regardless of the weapon, people are killing people and if you dont want to, or are too afraid to control your own population, you haven't got a lot of options.

I guarantee it's illegal to have grenades in Sweden yet they now have an explosion every second day. Everyone knows who is doing it and since the government will not act to control the population, it will continue forever.

There will never be a solution if you arent allowed to name the problem.
