Look, I hate to call people Racist, but I am pretty sure that they knew what a wheel was. And to say that European colonists first brought such concepts as Wheels and basic tools to Africa and Asia and the such is rather Racist. I am pretty sure they had that. Sorry, I am sure your an upstanding citizen, that part just really bugged me.

As to infrastructure, the infrastructure was used to further their exploitation. Schools were built to educate "Lesser" people on how to operate the Tools given to them, roads were built to better transport goods from mines and farms to ports and then back to the Colonists' Homeland. The people where ruthlessly exploited. You can claim a lot about Colonialism, but you can't say it has had many good consequences.

The Egyptians built the biggest damn Library there damn well was with most of the known world's knowledge there at the time (Which then promptly burned down, if I remember my history correctly, but the point still stands!) Africa has many a great Historical monuments to its name everywhere from Zimbabwe to Egypt. To intuate that Africa was primitive beyond messure before the Colonists of Europe came and "Fixed" everything, is simply inaccurate. Nowadays, Africa is plagued by many problems, most of which can be traced back to Colonialism. Colonialism, for all the gold you think it has done, has leaft a terrible legacy in Africa. In any way you spin, this you have to grant.
