Agreed. The utter worship is disgusting. I could see it when he was at his peak, in a way, but the crowds and verbal fellatio he gets from the commentators is nauseating, even when he wasn't winning anything.

Watching the masters, they spent the saturday morning pre game, talking about his f**king walk, for an hour. Same thing with Syndy Crosby, he could be on the bench during a goal, and comentators will find a way to give Syndy credit. It gives my old man and I much to argue over, he loves those guys

I can't watch the NHL any more. It just seems it had so much character back in the 80's and 90's as compared to today. Players like Coffey, Nicholls, Gilmour, Roenick, LaFontaine, Savard, Mogilny, Bure, Oates, Hull, Lemieux, Pronger, Wendel Clark, Chelios, Leetch, Kariya. But maybe that's just me getting older.

Nah, same here, where's the finesse? When I was getting my cable hooked up a couple weeks ago, the cable guy and I came accross the '89 Flames win over the Habs, we watched damn near the whole 3rd period, great f**kin hockey. Good on Lanny, I love it when a vet finally gets his cup, I was happy for Ovechkin last year. A really good doc to watch is Ice Gaurdians, best NHL doc, it's about the old school enforcers like Domi, Cement head, etc etc. Not goons tho, they talk about that too, but the respect they had for eachother.

That was an awesome series.

I know. Maybe the average player is faster, maybe they are quicker with reflexes but there's something missing. Maybe it is finesse. Remember Denis Savard and the spin o rama? I miss the players who were both skilled and tough, like Orr or Neely.
