Germany isn't democratic socialist. East Germany was, but it was in bad shape after WWII. And it suffered pretty bad economic growth, despite being the wealthiest in the Eastern Bloc. West Germany, a capitalist state, actually fared better in parallel. Socialism didn't help East Germany. They eventually had to work on loans from West Germany.
And also, it's not socialism at work if you're paying tax. Socialism at work is when the government controls the economy for the most part. And sure, one could see taxation as A COMMIE THINGYMAJIG, but you can have elements of left wing and right wing in a government. It's not a binary system. And also, we don't pay for everything. Cars, technology, Netflix subscriptions, etc. are all paid by us under a capitalist economy.
