Certainly some awful things have been done in the name of Christianity, but some great things have been so done as well. In an imperfect world, it seems hypocritical to me to criticize Christianity for failing to be flawless.

You’re falsely equating Democratic Socialism with historical Socialism. (What a surprise) I’ll give you a glimpse of what DS looks like: Germany.

Germans have better quality of lives, are richer than us, and (drum roll, please) UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE. So guess what, buttercup? They live healthier and longer than us. And also, since Republicans have to be told infinity times, we already HAVE elements of Socialism in this country. Who pays for the roads and highways, the parks and libraries, and police and fire departments? Give up?

WE DO. That’s Socialism at work, big guy. Read a book sometime.

I think you're confusing social programs with a Democratic Socialist form of government. Using tax dollars to pay for roads and police is not socialism.

Also, Germany is NOT a Democratic Socialist Government. They are a Democratic Republic with a free market economy that has social programs. North Korea, on the other hand, calls itself a Democratic Socialist government.

I think you're the one who needs to read a book.

Maybe you should read about the Democratic Socialists Of America. They sure sound like plain old historical socialists to me.

Their principals include No private profit, government control of businesses with all rights flowing from the government.

In fact the first line from their "About Us" sections states. "Democratic Socialists believe that BOTH the economy and society should be run democratically."

I don't want government running the economy and I certainly don't want them running society. We have seen what happens when the government runs the economy, Venezuela.

Yikes. That website is scary. They are completely anti-capitalist. Socialism is not about equality, it just exchanges one set of elites for another.

Germany isn't democratic socialist. East Germany was, but it was in bad shape after WWII. And it suffered pretty bad economic growth, despite being the wealthiest in the Eastern Bloc. West Germany, a capitalist state, actually fared better in parallel. Socialism didn't help East Germany. They eventually had to work on loans from West Germany.

And also, it's not socialism at work if you're paying tax. Socialism at work is when the government controls the economy for the most part. And sure, one could see taxation as A COMMIE THINGYMAJIG, but you can have elements of left wing and right wing in a government. It's not a binary system. And also, we don't pay for everything. Cars, technology, Netflix subscriptions, etc. are all paid by us under a capitalist economy.

The number of people killed by socialism would have been over the population of the area Christianity was practiced in. It is estimated that in the 14th century the world population was only about 450 million. I doubt that Christianity has killed even close to what socialism has.
