Despite my verbosity today, I am really quite ill. If I don't respond to a comment in a timely manner, please don't think I'm being intentionally dismissive!

I'm not certain that the outrage is fake. I don't *think* that she was trying to be intentionally disrespectful, and perhaps that's where I break with others. The full text of her remarks sounds like she was softening the attack to direct emphasis on the current treatment of Muslim Americans.

Whatever her intent, her statement comes across as minimizing the fact that 2996 people were killed in attacks coordinated by Islamic terrorists. While some people are biased against her and would undoubtedly be offended if she said, "Hello," the idea that her statements are offensive is not baseless.

Just as I, as light complexioned male of European descent, can't use the N-word without being offensive regardless of my intent, she cannot publicly soften her references to this event without sounding as if she is trying to bury the truth.

ok.let's take omar off the table for a moment,and instead use trump.

how many times have the lefty reactionaries pounced on a trump slip up?
how many times have they used these word salad f**k ups as evidence that trump is:dumb,ineloquent,unsophisticated and boorish?

there is literally a cottage industry that does just that,sifting through everything trumps says to validate their own reactionary politics.

I think it is a pretty obvious point.
so due to how this sites chat system kinda blows.i am going to assume you agree with my basic premise.

so if we can view how the left knee jerk reacts to trumps off-the-cuff style,and grabs onto anything that validates their position and disparages trump.

then we must be fair with our criticism and apply the same metric in regards to omar,and see it for what it is:reactionary politics to validate an assumed position.

in this case,it comes from the right.
