The OP brilliantly shows the dismissive nature of Omar's comment. Does it lack taste, sure, but its effectiveness is not unseen as a result

when taken in the context of her words,in their entirety,it becomes very clear this is manufactured outrage.
it had nothing to do with her point.
it wasn't even "point adjacent".

this is not a defense of omar,or her politics.
it is an accusation to those being uncritical and engaging in reactionary politics.

words are inert.
it is our perceptions and intentions that breathe life into them.
simply put:context matters
and we need to recognize our own biases and prejudices which can be easily manipulated by appealing to our lizard brains.

The context of her words? This is the argument being stated by AOC etc..."the words were taken out of context" Well lets see here are her words from the podium:

"CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties."

First, no CAIR was absolutely NOT FOUNDED in 2011 in response to 9/11. It was founded in 1994. This is beyond the pale of dishonesty.

Secondly, how are exactly is not trivializing the acts of 9/11 by saying what she said.

there is literally a cottage industry that does just that,sifting through everything trumps says to validate their own reactionary politics.

so if we can view how the left knee jerk reacts to trumps off-the-cuff style,and grabs onto anything that validates their position and disparages trump.

then we must be fair with our criticism and apply the same metric in regards to omar,and see it for what it is:reactionary politics to validate an assumed position.

Sure, okay I accept the premise that ineloquence is pervasive and the other side will pounce on one another when the opportunity presents itself.

We saw this with Trump and his "bad on both sides" remark post Charlottesville. The left pounced on him for what they percieved to be trivializing the actions of white supremacists.

So we can agree that to a large degree this is reactionary. Beyond that, we have to monitor the dialogue on an ongoing basis to see if this was a one time flippant mistake, or something that occurs more frequently so that it's endemic to her ideology (eg. Dismissive of one group only).
