It is not that. America does stupid stuff in the open, all the time. He looks a lot like a foreign operative, much like Maria Butina. Let's see what comes out, if he goes to trial.

BY THAT LOGIC,ALL JOURNALISTS SHALL BE CHARGED WITH TREASON AND ESPIONAGE. | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
and any foreign journalist that exposes American crimes shall be pursued under the fullest extent of the law.the purpose of course, has little,if anything,to do with actual law and EVERYTHING to do with sending a message:

you do anything that exposes, reveals, embarrasses or humiliates and YOU shall be CRUSHED under the full weight and power of the united states of America!

why do you think Edward snowden hauled ass,and found refuge in another country?

how can anybody not see what is so blatantly obvious.

Assange was not charged with publishing secrets. The Pentagon Papers rulings by the Supreme Court set limits on what the Government can do to journalists who publish secrets. The First Amendment is safe. People who steal and trade in govenment secrets break the law. Snowden took off because he was a coward, unlike Daniel Ellsberg, who exposed the Pentagon Papers. Ellsberg made his point and stood firm. He was let off on a technicality because of Nixon and the Plumbers. But, he stood up for what he believed. Smowden appears to have an immature view of the world, in which you get away with breaking the law, because the "Man," is corrupt. I cannot identify any govenrment of enterprise of man that is pure and not corrupt to a degree. But, we need to have rules or we will have nothing. Stand up against any rule you think should be changed. I will support you. What Snowden did is like throwing a rock at a window and running away to avoid punishment.

and it's not like snowden doesn't make his own case why he fled.
calling him a "coward" is just regurgitating corporate media.the very same media that USED leaked information for ratings, and then turned around and USED the drama to generate ratings.

during the Ellsberg pentagon papers America didn't have:MCA of 2006,the patriot act 1 and 2,the victory act 1 and 2 and the ndaa.

so this misnomer that snowden is a coward for not standing up and facing the music is simply a media created canard that ignores that 9/11 changed everything.

unless,it is your contention that we are still a "nation under law".
while a fine, and noble ideal,it no longer reflects in reality.

I do see us as a nation of laws. We are in a wierd state right now. But, I think we will self correct. Snowden does not have the spine that Ellsberg did. He may have attacked targets more to the liking of people on the left, But, what he did was wrong. I don't think 9-11 changed everything. If you lived through the sixties, like I did, and saw what "Law and Order," types did to law abiding Americans, you know that the pendulum swings within an arc.

Actually if you listen to the interviews with both Ellsberg and Snowden, Ellsberg acknowledges Snowden was ballsier for truth than even he was.

Go watch CitizenFour, it's worth doing.

Don't believe the lies reported to you by entities controlled by the directly threatened deep state.

Sorry, that was a little too far. I just don't get why you celebrate a whistleblower on corruption getting f'ed over by a vengeful government.

He is very likely a spy in the mold that includes Maria Butina. While she was created to appeal to people on the right, especially the far right, he was cast to appeal to the left. Both were put out there to take advantage of existing distrust of "the man," by people who feed disempowered for various reasons, and to encourage and increase distrust. Let's see how this plays out. I come from the old school, with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Violating the law to draw attantion to a wrong, included arrest in order to have a day in court. If he is an innocent activist, I will spring to his defense. If not, I doubt his current supporters will care.

Fair enough. But as Enoch has noted it's open season on whistleblowers, and that's not right. But as you said, we'll see how it plays out. Just pisses me off the brits have no serious issue with child rape gangs yet the gutless scum will leap towards anything slightly political.
