From the get go it reminded me of the Tawana Brawley case in 1987, who for those that don't know pulled a similar story, even smearing dog feces on herself, claiming 4 KKK men kidnapped and raped her for a couple of days. As horrific as the story was, something seemed off, and despite Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson getting involved and making a big noise like they used to back then, it soon fell apart.
