I saw Steven Wright and Nelson at the valley forge music fair 20+ yrs ago. I saw Billy West in philly too (ren and Stimpy fame) all were very good. If you ever wanna see a surprisingly good standup, check out Buddy hacketts circa 1980. He was talking about religion and being Jewish and said "alls i know, i get to heaven when i die, Theres already a lil piece of my dick up there" (circumcision ). lol

Ralfie may was a riot too. very sad. Living on the road is a hard life, rock stars, actors, comedians, its harder than it looks but the business really takes its toll on them, sad. My cousin said that 30 seconds of film takes 12 hours to shoot. The money is great, once you get a good job but many greta actors dont get the good jobs. Comedians are even harder to make it. Its about the love of the craft, it trully is art.

Yeah, I briefly flirted with the idea of doing stand-up. I'm funny. I can do this! I went to the comedy club to watch a show. No headliner of any name-recognition. The first guy is up there and I'm like "This guy is funnier than I am and he sucks. Bad. This ain't ever going to happen." And that's the last time I thought about telling jokes professionally.

Like a million others, I played in a garage band that never went anywhere. I remember the first time we played in front of people at some party. When I started my first guitar solo, the crowd roared. It caught me so off guard I almost forgot to play the next notes. That was only 30, 40 people maybe. Even with that number, the energy was palpable, like a wind of positive energy. That sounds corny, but it's a real thing, however you describe it. I can't imagine playing an arena...
