So if he was a "good Mormon" he would be in lockstep with all Republicans and never reach out in peace to organizations with political differences? Since when was that part of Joseph Smith's teachings?

I mean, "black people are from the devil" and "wear magic underwear", sure, but I don't remember a particular political affiliation being mandated.

No, he would stop lying to get elected then show his true colors afterwards. But he is a politician afterall.
