It's Not Working For Us

We do make products to last, very few items are ever thrown out because of planned obsolescence, rather, people throw them out and then blame planned obsolescence for their actions

When something breaks I repair the part
When an electronic slows down I factory reset it
When I can't fix it, I send it out for repairs
When its beyond repair, I look for a 2nd hand one
When manufacturers say its outdated, I ignore them

Most things I own, I've had for 10 years or longer without issue, yet everyone around me is routinely throwing out half their house and replacing it every couple months at the first sign of an issue or a new option -- Thats not capitalisms fault as much as its the fault of the people wasting their money for no good reason

For some items this is true and is a mindset. However many items cost more to repair than it does to replace, especially if the new item is more efficient. Also things like light bulbs for years only lasted typically 1000 hours and were conspired by the companies that made them to expire. This is part of the reason the light bulb that lasted more than most peoples lifetime is shown as an example of planned obsolescence.

Some of it is attitude for sure. But a lot of it is manipulation from the media and by relation the manufactures.

People work off of convenience. And if well made products aren't readily offered, especially for reasonable prices, people then tend to gravitate as intended towards cheap made crap.

This is not happenstance. People didn't suddenly devolve out of the blue.

Capitalism at its root is not, as a matter of fact, the most successful way of economy. Free market trade is not. What works is a free economy with government welfare and healthcare.
