So it's only about 2% of the actual wall.

So they have found enough money for 40 miles of the 2000 miles needed? And they are so proud of themselves!

You would also need to take into account the amount shitty terrain at the border, but at least people on the right are doing more than people on the left.

Doing more trying to fund the wall maybe. But you think only the right had donated?
Interesting insight into your thinking process

And the official Democratic platform wants to grant amnesty to illegals, yet anybody with a brain stem should be able to know that it's a dumb idea, so the Democrats haven't done anything important with illegal immigrants in the last five years.

Not sure but probably only amnesty to those that have been here for at least a decade not for those coming recently or yet to come.

Ok it was registering illegals for a school board election only. 49 people signed up.
Why would an illegal try to register to vote when that will lead ICE to their front door? Again... School board election only and 49 people.

Registering illegals in one place would mean doing it in all places.

It won't work because you can't allow citizens to raise money and "donate" to the government and then "dictate" to said government how that money is to be spent.
It's a dead end. Better luck next time

Trump donated his salary back to the country. The money will be used for veterans programs. The Gofundme is on par with that.

Imagine a group of people raise money to drop a nuclear bomb on N. Korea. Kind of ridiculous that anyone in their right mind would want to grant citizens the right to "fund" and "donate" and "dictate" how the government "must" spend those funds. SMH at the ignorance displayed herein

Ok. I am making a One Thousand dollar donation in the name of damagedgood. The inscription will be in a section of wall just south of Yuma. Bring your family there and Be Proud! You earned it.

Just the fact that we are having this conversation and the civil war has not yet started and reasonable people are on all sides gives me much hope.

Yep me too. The main trouble the wall supporters create for themselves is when they "assume" those that are against the wall are for open borders and illegals. Nothing could be further from the truth.
We can work together to achieve those things IF y'all don't INSIST that the wall is the only way.

I believe some governmental agencies can accept "earmarked" funds but I highly doubt the department of homeland security is one of those.
here is something interesting:
"Its founder, Brian Kolf*ge, previously ran a Facebook page — as well as several related websites — that was kicked off the platform in October for what Facebook described as "inauthentic activity."

for sure. I recall 3 people, a couple and a "homeless" person, setting up a gofundme for the homeless person who helped the female get her car restarted after running out of gas. It was a scam, they all knew each other and planned to split the gofundme funds among themselves.
Here is gofundme's rules though:
GoFundMe’s terms of service prohibit “not using funds for their stated purpose,” meaning that if the DHS were unable to accept the windfall, Kolf*ge may have to reimburse his campaign’s donors.

I heard about that homeless man gofundme too, but what I heard was they only gave him some of the money, and were supposedly holding on to the rest, because he blew the portion they did give him in a short period of time. (A "hookers and cocaine" kind of thing).

The news story was about the fuss over whether they should have to give him the whole thing, no matter what he chooses to do with it.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that was all there was to the story at the time I heard about it.

Google it. All 3 were in on the scam.

Nope you are wrong. Go do some reading please.

“I think it’s admirable, and I think that the country should respond,” Goodlatte told The Post. “Obviously, we can’t let citizens raise money and say, ‘The government will spend my money on this purpose.’?”

According to the Treasury Department, general donations to the feds are directed to a “Gifts to the United States” fund, set aside for “general use” by the federal government or “budget needs.”

Specific federal agencies can’t touch this funding without a congressional appropriation."

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), chair of the House Judiciary Committee and a longtime proponent of tighter border security

so sad. Try again

That'll stop the go-fund cold once people come to the realization that it's not going to work the way they think it will. Then they'll want their money back.

Yeah it should if they have any sense. XD

Hear that congress? Who wants to get reelected?

The government has accepted private donations for infrastructure before. In 2012, a billionaire philanthropist donated $7.5 million to fix the Washington Monument. It is unclear still if the government has reached out to Kolf*ge about any potential donations. In the GoFundMe post, Kolf*ge said he is "working with a law firm on a legal document that will bind the government to using the funds for the border wall itself, nothing else."

Yes but Congress still has to make the appropriation. It ain't happening without congressional approval. Go ahead and approve it congress but only if paid for in full by the donations.
