So much for wind energy replacing petroleum

The liquid oil and the soil it seeped into will have to be dug up and disposed of somehow. The heavy equipment needed uses diesel (a fossil fuel) and makes still more pollution. These wind farms are touted as being pollution free, but they are not.

Circa 1999 or 2000, I was driving towards Barstow, CA and saw a huge cloud of smoke rising into the air. I found out later that this was due to a fire at a big solar plant.

No energy generation is truly "green." Besides the oil leak/spill above, the blades of those turbines have struck and killed birds. Dams for hydroelectric power have displaced or killed fish by the millions. The hazards of nuclear power are well known. There simply is no such thing as a free lunch.

He's using what could be interpreted as isdolated incidents to identify a potential widespread problem. Wind farms often require so much maintenance (which requires energy, vehicles, etc.), that the supposed benefits are counteracted. Solar farms are prone to fires. Both wondering farm and solar have a direct negative effect on wildlife. The turbines of wind farms often kill birds. Birds are often burned by focused beams created by solar farms.

When they overheat and catch fire, It's pretty spectacular.

And always in high winds. There are a number of cases where the braking system failed and the machines literally flew apart- debris up to 1/4 mile away or more.
