Conservatives are, by definition, conservative, seeking to maintain or revert to - if needed - traditional norms that coincidentally are beneficial only to them.

Liberals wish to extend the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to those who have been deprived of it, easing or dismantling goverment restrictions designed to disenfranchise entire segments of society due to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, species, and assorted emerging radical Greenwich Village Bohemian types.

Via the heavy hand of big goverment, conservatives wish to impede the spread of such freedoms to those they've designated to be rabble rousing deviants and degenerates of low standing, utilizing the constabulary and adjudicators of law or passing legislation to control them.

Undeterred, liberals continue on the quest to dismantle these restrictions and the tools of imposing them, and this makes conservatives terribly upset because it takes away the thrill of quick back alleyway rendevous with swarthy heathens of occasionally indeterminate sexual identities whom they shall no longer have the means of segrating themselves from in broad daylight and public lavoritories.
