The government does not have a revenue problem, they have a spending problem. Reduce the deficit by reducing spending.

Only a crazy person would first take a pay cut before reducing spending. Ronald Reagan also said the very same line, "The government does not have a revenue problem, they have a spending problem." After tripling the deficit Reagan realized that he needed to bring back higher taxes and did so.

Until you take a pay cut, you won't reduce spending. I see your point, but remember who you're talking about. If there is money in the pot, Congress will spend it and more. If there is less money in the pot, it forces Congress to make choices -- in theory. We always run into problems whenever we expect 535 crooks to behave like 1 reasonable person.

Limiting revenue has never stopped congress from spending money.
