Well. 45% of California is Federal Land. So, the FedGov would be required to take care of it (you know, rake it). That would require money. Do you honestly think that a "fiscally conservative" GOP led congress will allocate tax money to clean up forests?

Everybody but the Russian Trolls be honest now.

(hint: rich people and corporations need that tax break more than those forests need to be raked)

The vast majority of land that burned lately is private, subject to local regulations that hinder the public's ability to maintain their own land...that the Governor admittedly stated contributed to the disaster. Combine that with the fact that this state burns every year and you have a situation that only gets worse every year. So...yes. Keep on blaming the feds, when it's the environmentalists and their knee-jerk regulations that are causing the problem.

Even if that were true, you could charge logging companies a small fee to come get the logs and make a profit.

The regulations prohibit the cutting down of trees less than 36 inches. Most of the land that burned was made up of trees that never get that large and the ones that do aren't enough for anyone to make a profit. So you're left with a lot of smaller trees and dried up brush that are illgal to touch.
