"paint.net" (that's the program name, not the web address!!) was made by the guys at MS who made Paint, they were supposed to release it with windows but it never happened...so they made it available for free at www.getpaint.net

I use it for all my image editing, it's not as powerful as photoshop, but more than sufficient for messing around with memes

Interesting... I'll have to check out that website... I use Photoshop express but then everything I make has low resolution.

There's also GIMP, which is much more like photoshop, and also free! But paint.net is a great starter program

No, I haven't used fireworks before.

Fireworks was the best image editor EVER!! it was as advanced as photoshop (until Adobe bought it over then threw all their resources at photoshop) and you could make animated gifs with it, all in the same window. Adobe ran it into the ground and eventually discontinued it a few years ago

Fireworks sounds like it used to be a nice program...too bad Adobe took it and discontinued it.

Maybe if they actually want to pay graphic designers reasonable wages... just maybe. I remember people wanting to pay me minimum wage for GD work and I was like GTFO, I got a student loan to pay. So I moved to IT :P and now I do graphic design as a hobby.
