Martin Luther King strived for civil rights via peaceful protest, Malcom X offered more militant solutions, but it was MLK who led the movement via peace.
Ghandi's pacifism won the independence of India from colonial Britain, but he used a peaceful method to lead his people. He was an inspiration to many civil right activists.
The Suffragette movement, though it had extreme tactics, won because they proved in WWI that they can a job as well as a man. The reason why politicians dismissed it at first is because they saw them as radical extremists. They led a good cause, and I respect them, but I do see a few cracks in their methods.
Sometimes, the best way to prove your cause is right is by showing how to make others feel welcome in the new stage. Antifa isn't doing that, as their hostilities make most of their ideals unwelcome.

I'm afraid that it won't work on violent, xenophobic racists to be merciful. You can't simply tell a person to stop believing something. Even in a society where the ruler forbids it to be racist and xenophobic, people will still hold onto their hateful beliefs and most likely cause a rebellion to rise.

I am sorry, but I disagree. Socialism and Communism are evil by definition and they deserve the same ass kicking. Any system that must control all aspects of a persons life is wrong. There is very little difference between Nazism and socialism.

I have done quite a lot of reading on the different social ideologies, and I have found free market capitalism to be preferable.
