You're right,taxation is a good idea,but only in theory. I often ask people:"Who do you pay taxes? Don't you see that it is basically the way govt is robbing you?" and there are two replies I usually get:

First reply:"Well,it's my duty as a citizen to pay taxes",to which I say:"But you can't choose if you can pay taxes or not.You either pay them,or you go to jail or have to somewhere else to pay taxes to someone else.Tell me that's not theft!"

Second reply:"If nobody paid taxes,govt couldn't fund itself,and it couldn't exist",to which I smile and say:"Hahahah,exactly! Now tell me,how do you call a thing or an organism that can't live on it's own,but instead has to live off of someone else's work to survive? A parasite! That's what government is!"

Now yes,I understand,not all the taxes are used for the politicians' personal needs. They are used for public services,like building roads,or hospitals etc. But here's the thing,if you're gonna have taxes for public services,why involve the govt? Why not just gather all the citizens,all of them pay a little bit(but only if they're able to do so),and so make sure all the taxes are used for the mutual goal and none of it goes to the parasitic lifestyle of politicians.

To sum it all up: Taxes would be amazing if they had nothing to do with the govt,and if they were optional. The way they are now,they're just one of the many ways govt controls the people and reminds them they can do whatever they want with them(people) whenever they want.

I was challenged recently with this question. "If stealing 100% of a person's wages is slavery, at what percentage is taxation not slavery?" Here was my answer.

"Excuse me, but the dollars we earn are legal government tender which means they are subject to the rules of governance. Taxation is not theft but ideally is what helps maintain a healthy social order.

Whatever money we do earn is not done solely by our own efforts but by the help of governance and by extension society. Taxes pay for roads, schools, police, firemen, teachers, the military, etc, all of which we could not obtain legal government tender in the first place without their support.

The idea of taxation as theft is an erroneous idea that the corporatists love, the very same ones who have hijacked our country with money like a little child who cry MINE MINE MINE!

Yes, taxation can be overdone, lack progressiveness, misused, etc. In it's best form taxation keeps the flow of money moving around and not all floating to the top in which a micro minority have way too much while most live in economic deprivation hence experience deep suffering....

IMO this is the ultimate use of taxation, to prevent Large Economic Interests from eclipsing the power of the state, thereby taking it over and oppressing the people. In short, not only is there a good reason for taxation it is essential to any true democracy."

Like any other comment of yours,I can't disagree with anything you said.

However,let us,for the sake of the argument,remove the government from the equation. Suppose it doesn't exist. What would be with all tax-funded objects and personel? Soldiers and policemen would,obviously,not exist,but then,people would grow strong on their own,and would soon realize it's better to be able to protect yourself,than be dependant of someone else's protection. Teachers in mandatory(free) schools would cease to exist,but not the schools in which you must pay to attend. And that would also encourage some parents to home-school their children,thus avoiding the "educated enough to repeat,not educated enough to question". Firemen are very complicated,as fires are not something that happens a regular basis,and thus they'd easily cease to exist. Nevertheless,their usefulness cannot be denied(unless the society would practice the Law of Natural Selection AKA Survival of the Fittest,by which the person who lost their house in a fire deserved to lose it due to their own incompetence).

Now,what about objects,such as roads,schools,hospitals etc? Simply read the fourth paragraph of my comment above. Taxes unrelated to governments are taxes serving their purpose fully.

Each of them belong in jail - with no term limit. ;-)
