There might be some overlap in the two groups, but they're not identical.

for all intents and purposes, political memers are trolls. there may be exceptions, but not enough. when i look at the 'fun" page i see people collaborating on meme ideas instead of arguing nonsense. much better.

p.s. being a troll is not the end of the world, but it's better on its own page.

With politics separated from the rest of imgflip, I do not see any way where a political meme, no matter how well it is received by the imgflip community, could be viewed in the 'Hot' memes stream. I personally do not care if it is able to be seen in the 'fun' stream, but if it is hot, then it ought to be viewed in the hot stream.
