Nike has been reviewing their use of foreign workers for about 14 years, with continued oversight. Any company that doesn't produce its goods entirely in the U.S. runs the risk of "sweatshops" being part of the equation.

Freedom of speech, I've head about it. Why are people so angry that someone has an opinion? And btw, the guy is RIGHT.

But them sweatshops gotta go. I remember an episode of Doctor Who, where a lady says slavery has been relegated to the past, and the Doctor laughed and said, "Who do you think makes your clothes?" :-)

I upvoted you because you make a good point. And there are probably a lot of things to do with this that are hypocrisy because NIKE is a commercial company who by definition has it's own self interest in mind. However, that doesn't make Kaepernick wrong. I also think a lot of the reaction has to do with people feeling threatened that Kaepernick points out that we have a problem with racial inequality.

Where was Kaepernick and all the other millionaire oppressed football players during the off season? Chicago was begging for help all summer. Not one football player could be bothered. More than 1000 shot from Memorial day-Labor day in Chicago, 365 dead, Not one kneeling player, Maybe they were saving their knees for the really important issues, Like catching and running with a ball

Many have given back to impoverished and underserved communities where they come from.

The communities need role models, Not checks from privileged athletes.

If you think the only thing these communities need is "role models", you haven't been paying attention.

Never said only, Role models are a better start than checks written to community organizers

Ah.. and Colin Kaepernick, adopted kid who made it to the NFL, isn't a role model because... he "disrespected the flag" in the name of trying to fight racism on TV instead of during the offseason ..?

Actually, giving back to the communities and standing up for the people who feel marginalized by the police, using his place of privilege to be an advocate, there are many in those communities who do see him as a role model, and as a courageous spokesperson with a platform they do not have.

Ugh, These communities don't need happy thought & Unicorns, They need fathers in the home. People like you who actually believe cops wake up in the morning saying I'm gonna kill a Black person today are the biggest problem these communities face. SMH.

These communities need a lot of things, and not just one simple fix, or one check. But if you care, as you seem to, find somewhere where you can help someone who has more need than you.

A lot of good points here. As long as people keep talking, there's a chance actual progress can be made on these problems.
