If you really are about to make a big deal out of my comment to laonsite (and no, no one did actually answer the question, the only three people who have replied to JeffBurkellyson's origional comment was the person who I replied to, you, and I) yet fail to provide any actual valid argument and instead choose rely on an ad hominim attack, then any nativity in this conversation does not fall on me. Please Reply when you have something worthwhile to say.

Billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos could provide every homeless person in America with a $2,000 dollar house, and still have enough money left for themselves. There's a fine line between reaping the benefits of what you've sown, and just hoarding valuable resources like the parasites they are.

And who are you to tell anyone what to do with their own money? You don't have money for yourself? Work for it. You don't have any moral authority to tell someone they need to give away their own money. It's ignorant people like you (wannabe thieves) that destroy this country a little more each day.

"Paying one's fair share..." That's a socialist attitude and a dangerous one. All these kids walking around thinking everyone owes them something for doing nothing. They believe that if you're wealthy you should give them some of your money. That's thievery. It's wrong and anyone who thinks it's okay to take someone else's stuff, are sick.

No one has the right to force you to give away your own money.

Buffett wrote, “Last year my federal tax bill — the income tax I paid, as well as payroll taxes paid by me and on my behalf — was $6,938,744. That sounds like a lot of money. But what I paid was only 17.4% of my taxable income — and that’s actually a lower percentage than was paid by any of the other 20 people in our office. Their tax burdens ranged from 33% to 41% and averaged 36%.” He added, “My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress. It’s time for our government to get serious about shared sacrifice.”

“The 400 of us pay a lower part of our income in taxes than our receptionists do, or our cleaning ladies, for that matter. If you’re in the luckiest 1% of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99%,"

Should the working man pay for the college education, that people like bezos needs his workers to have in order to make money? the roads to get product in and out? the military to protect him? You honestly Bezos or any successful American business person would have been successful if born and living in was raised in Somalia where, "people keep their money"????? wtf?

Let people spend their own money, don't take it.

and if you were a millionaire would you give your wealth to the poor? All of it?
0 ups, 6y
And you could provide at least one homeless person with a $2000 house ... and you haven’t. You refuse to help ONE. Just ONE.
Pot meet kettle.

Full capitalism has never been tried. Even in America it is hindered by cronyism, corporatism, and other forms of government interference

Yes it has. Read some history about the factory towns that only paid in factory money . Or about how big money called in the government to put down strike with deadly force because you know, money.

Do you have any idea what Socialism is? Or do you think it's a bad thing because the media told you it is.

The media doesn't tell us it's a bad thing. They tell us it's a good thing. There has never been a country that survived a socialist economy. Ever.

We have Socialism in this country, the Police, the fire dept, public schools, public libraries, the selective service, social service, Social Security, Medicare,
Capitalism is whats running our economy, unregulated capitalism is a dangerous thing,we've had many economic collapses in this country, most recently back in 2006 and in 2008, the Big Banks, the Insurance Companies and the Auto Industries were bailed out, the people that were affected, got nothing.
2 ups, 6y
Having a few socialist policies is not the same as living in a fully socialist country. /None/ of the economic ideologies are good on their own. Not socialism (in any of its offshoots), not democracy, not capitalism, none of them. Any one of them purely on it's own is dangerous and evil, including democracy.

They need to be taken a la carte, and find the right balance. A touch of socialism here, a touch of capitalism there, add a bit of democracy, etc. etc.

And really, before you start taking money away from people who've earned it, why not get your government to stop putting so much of your tax money into military spending? Last year the US spent 610 billion on their military budget. That's almost 4 times more than China in second place (with one quarter the population), and almost TEN times more than Russia, in 4th place.

Canada, meanwhile, spends relatively little on military budget, maybe that's why we have such good health care.
