It all started when people started to embrace mediocrity.

that's part of it. record companies won't sign bands that sound different because they don't want to gamble that much money so there are no new ideas, people consume music and never really try to enjoy it, theft of intellectual property by individuals and companies to the point that people feel they are entitled to your work which then makes a musician think why even try.. not that i've ever put any thought into this or anything

Take a risk, go looking for some good indie music, check out Bandcamp site.
I do love all the old stuff, esp my Prog Rock, but there's some pretty exciting new music out there, if you take the time to track it down.

i had written a very long reply but i deleted it. so i'm going to try to keep it to a couple lines. don't get me wrong, bands are still doing great new stuff. it is just weird times to be a musician. some problems are new. some are new versions of old ones.

Yes, they're still doing great new stuff, they're just not getting promoted as much as the conveyor belt music that gets on the radio.

I can’t believe it took 6 writers and 4 producers to publish that piece of s*it song.

True. I always thought it funny that he had two white guys playing for him. That probably wigged people out back then. : )

Yep, Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame inductees as of 1992, Noel Redding (bassist) and Mitch Mitchell (drummer) but of course Hendrix died 22 years earlier at 27 in 1970.

Modern pop is musical version of socialism. Appeals to the lowest common denominator with easy and repetitive messages.

This meme worked just as well last time I saw it, with Nicki Minaj instead of Beyonce.

Couldn't agree more with the meme.
I was going to put a Queen poster, but considering the tread I thought this would be more appropriate.

While I too dislike modern pop, many do not enjoy my taste in music either. I let them be as I want them to let me be.

Although I agree, I don't think it was one writer and one producer, unless you count all of queen as one entity

The song was completely written by Freddie Mercury.

Yeah, you're right. I just thought there was more of a collaboration in the studio to make it happen. But officially, Fred wrote it before Queen.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Beyonce. Or any current pop artist (okay, maybe that's a stretch, Drake, Post Malone, and Jessie Reyez are lame).
I've never listened to that other song, the one you said was good. That's mainly because, with all due respect to your opinion, I think most old music isn't that good.
Also, I read the tags, who's Freddie Mercury?
