Do you hit the return button? I find when I do that the upvote doesn't stick, but if I just go to Hot or Latest or even the users profile after the upvote then upvote stays.
Actually hitting return might seem to make it not stick, but if you return later in a forwad fashion you'll see that it did, just wasn't showing before.
I'm talking well after the fact. Coming back later in the day to respond and you see the up vote you did earlier is no longer there, or at least it doesn't reflect.
Oh, I misundertood. I used to get worried about that, or of accidentally downvoting instead.
Actually, come to think of it, while I double check, sometimes I notice the same later and thought my fingers accidentally messed up.
They are several memers that I check daily and upvote/comment, as well as upvote comment sections, and I've noticed that when I return, some of them don't have my upvotes, and I have to do it again. I thought I was going crazy. lol That could still be the case. :-)
Like a typo, most people know your true intent. I’m horrified when I see one that I thought I upvoted but now it’s gone. Or when there’s only one upvote, but two comments, I hope they know I was an upvote!
That makes sense. Maybe when we try up voting too many back-to-back we cause a server spasm.

It's happened to me on other small meme sites. In fact, I was looking into other options for meme sites and one of the criteria I had was server reliability. It hasn't just affected my upvoting reliability, but also when my memes actually show up on the site.
Coupla redditors on a Qanon forum discovered bots kicking in if they started getting too many ups and even showed a graph to prove it. Don't know if things would be nearly that sophisticated here and couldn't prove it, my conspiracy proclivities aside either way.
