Was is successful in your eyes?

Nope, I was against it. And the stricter laws to stop future illegals weren't enforced, so it was biz as usual, surprise, surprise.

Plus this wasn't even some sad kids who grew up here, but adults who hid out for a decade. Real sweet, huh?

Remember GW's plan? Soc Sec & Medicare automatically for them even without paying into it!
"Tu caca, es mi caca" politicians crack me up.

Cubans. So this failed. So let's try it again with 11 million?
I'm really failing to understand you logic and how you are trying to use it as a point to poke republicans.
Bi-partisianship attempted to solve the illegal immigration problem. It failed miserably. Republicans got nothing out of it. Democrats win.
Just as the meme states.
Sorry to here you got called a naughty name.

There's barely over a million Cubans in the US.

W(ith)O(ut)P(apers)?

il Fascista in WWII?

Google if you realy don't know?

DemoRepublicans ARE the same outfit, given to the SAME corporate sponsors. Ch-Ch-Cheap labor, g-g-git it?

Sorry why? I was pointing out the irony. Sure, it was bewildering for a couple of years, but then it all cooled out and we wuz friends. You need some pokes in tha head to grow a spine. tbh, given the choice, I would still grow up in this neighborhood, but minus my family. THEY were the worst part of it.

What part of, "My father wasn't, and he married one for citizenship, my PR ma. I'm an anchor baby. Neither wanted kids and should never have had them." did you not understand?

I'm reposting this meme cuz I deleted my reply. Too much personal shit, forgot this was a public thread. I'll delte the other after you read it.

You don't know what Reagan was really about, and your take on Communism is even less on the knowing, as is for all those who didn't live through them times.

You confuse idealogy and slogans - the image - with reality.
Repubs n Dems eat at the same table, and ain't any of us invited.

I would almost agree with you if you rephrased that as the traditional power base of Repubs n Dems, eat at the same table, and ain't any of us invited. Its why Trump gets a Jeff Sessions who instantly neuters himself once getting an appointment, an FBI launching an investigation with all the water tightness of chain link for starters. I didn't back Trump going in but I do now because he pisses everybody off. I don't want him to succeed because I'm in love with the man, I want him to succeed because it leaves the door open for others besides the swamp monsters to follow. If he fails, after all they put him and anyone associated with him through, that door will close and possibly close forever.

Checks and balances? Justice Dept isn't party oriented or controlled (yet)?

We are watching the dismantling of the very institutions that make the USA the USA, turning it into a despotic regime with an oligarchy picking the minions dry as they lap it up.

The notion that it's some good ol' trollin shaking up the system misses the point that:

1. The shake up is for the private interests of a select (1%) few.

2. It's not a passing storm, this IS the new system, providing it continues unimpeded. Precedent is being set, and the next low brow megalomaniac isn't going to refrain from his base impulses because his more altruistic urges get the best of him.

This is history unfolding, we're over. We don't get to reset things in 2021 as if the world forgot.

To buy in to that, I would have to buy in that the dismantling of the very institutions that make the USA the USA began in 2016 and that's as far from true as it gets. We can thank the baby boom for that.

If you mean due to Russian collusion...

The three branches of gov't were still intact, no meddling. Other than Repubs in both houses doing their anti-Obama dance, and Colmey's Hillary (non)annoncement, all functioned as they were supposed to.
No notions of insideous going ons. Investigators, courts, judges, legislative bodies, free press, and citizen dissenters etc, weren't derided and threatened with being eliminated.

Hillary & the DNC did their shenanigans, but that's party corruption, not govermental
If it was anyone else not so out there as Trump, I'd be ultra happy they screwed themselves. There's rumblings of her running in 2020. Doesn't seem that it will ever dawn on her that it isn't the machine that needs tweeking, it's just that people don't like her.

The baby boomers?

The notions of the insidious goings on IS the conspiracy and it began with Trump being an outward critic of Comey's investigation of Hillary which was FAR from just political shenanigans and could best be described as corruption. From selling political favor for personal gain as well as her "foundation" created to advance her political goals. The missing emails, personal server, all meant to hide her actions from the public. Comey and his henchmen were easy to bring on board after the criticism Trump gave out. As far as the system working? I don't think the secret tarmac meeting falls under checks and balances anywhere.

I said it when Trump announced, "he won't win" and even if he did both sides would align against him because it would present a threat to their power system. All signs show that this is happening. The dems go after him and pound away at him, while repubs make half attempts to prop him up (in some cases). The internal leaks, Jeff Sessions, a judge granting wire taps with no legal grounds, Comey, Mueller.... the pieces fit. For the record I do believe that Oswald shot Kennedy, 911 was terrorists and area 51 was just a base where top secret aircraft were developed.

" OCTOBER 28, 2016 – The day Comey announced the FBI was investigating new Clinton emails

“The FBI – after discovering new emails, is re-opening their investigation into Hillary Clinton,” Trump said at a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire. “I have great respect for the FBI for righting this wrong.” "

I just copy/pasted that, forgot the source, dang clipboard holds only 1 item at a time.

Trump repeatedly praised Comey until firing him for not swearing absolute fidelity and refusing to drop the investigation. Shortly after Trump recalled it was on account of Comey breaking the law with the Hillary email announcement.
Trump had criticised him in July 2016 for not investigating and arresting Hillary for those emails, which, as we know, turned out to be nothing.

Bush/Cheney, private server, how many millions of emails deleted?

The Foundation/deals are fiction. She's a crook anyways. It's a tax shelter. Look at Al Gores, look at the Gates. They make millions of tax deductable dollars off that stuff.

Tarmac meeting?

'Both' sides are the same. Horse shoe theory.
DACA > Chuck Schumer > Govement shutdown - Schumer had Congress by the balls, and inexplicably, he suddenly gave up. Um, why? DACA is nada to him.
Remember Bill 'OK, OK, don't twist my arm, I'll sign it' Clinton? The Republican in disguise? Hillary too? The two fake sides wanted Hillary to win because she IS a connected insider, not just it gov't, but business.
Dems DO have a constituency to answer to, so some token finger waving is needed for the dictator in chief. Republicans have become downright subservient, with the occasional pip from some lesser known or maybe McCain. BOTH parties are milking Trump while they can to push through what they can that they couldn't get away with otherwise. Trump is the golden goose/fallguy, he and the next Dem Pres will get the blame for future repercussions, the rest of the two party machine will get rich. Trump is the retard with the hot Camaro, and they're in it for the ride.

Trump's sons & son in law have used the office to make real estate ands banking deals - literally, IN the office.
Collusion with Russia is at a minimum connected to Russia banking deals with the Trumps, the rest is far worse but rumor/speculation.
Secret phone calls and meetings with Russian operatives isn't reason for wiretaps?
Comey & Muellar are law enforcement, separate from the WH, Houses of Congress, and they sure ain't controlled by any political party.

What you say seems to make a good case for opening the door to the non-everyday players. Again, Trump was not my man, but he has opened the door for someone other than born politicians. McCain the maverick. Not hardly. S&L anyone? I hardly see Trump as the end of the world. Carter was a far bigger dupe and we survived (albeit with considerable pain).
1 up, 7y
But he IS a player. He drained the swamp, and put the writhing bloodworms leftover in the muck into his administration. It's almost a caricature of cronyism, absolutely no qualifications and so unabashed in their level of corruption that it's practically redeeming in how honest they are about it.
The revolving door of those thieving clowns reeks volumes about their boss. HIS closest associates - IRL FRIENDS - can't even bear him past a few months there.

Carter was too much of an optimist and believer that America stood for something good. He was ahead of his time, but landed in a faltering economy and the sour mood left in the wake of Viet Nam and Nixon. Like Obama, modesty and the notion that real acts speak louder than jingoistic catch phrases for the deliberately ignorant masses didn't paint the prettiest picture for the cartoon set. Image vs reality, image always win, the spicier, the better.

Another problem with Carter - shared to an extent with Obama (who ran too soon) - was that he was an outsider, lacking the contacts and not well versed in the machinizations of Washington. That's the downside of proposed term limits for our representatives - by the time they figure out how to do things, they'd be out. In the meantime, those better connected on the outside and skilled in manipulations would weadle their way in and get their way, the naive earnest ones sidelined.

What we would need in your scenario is a Ron Paul or Jessy Ventura. But they were branded lunatics by the DemoRepub corporation, so not happening. That the same prats that derided Ron now praise Rand as following in his footsteps while Rand back peddles when they get miffed and prostrates himself with glee sums that one up nicely.

Trump is not the end, he's the beginning of Phase III in the modern world. Post Colonial egalitarian let's make the world American is being phased out in favor of the shiny tv ready oligarchs tossing the serfs crumbs to get fat on while they doodle on their cells all day, hoping that one day they can be a YouTube reality star billionaire too one day because their mundane cog of a life is that special.

After the party levels the house, we don't get to dust it off and hang a sign on the door saying, "Sorry for the interuption, we now return you to your regularly scheduled program."
We just became the most significant Third World country round town, a joke living in its own shadow.
