People are so confused about the term a senator from Hawai'i recently had to set the media straight about it. Hawaiians are native by blood. Hawai'i residents are non-Hawaiians who live there. It's just a fact. Move on. @@

na·tive

noun
1.
a person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not.
"a native of Montreal"
adjective
1.
associated with the country, region, or circumstances of a person's birth.
"he's a native New Yorker"
synonyms: mother, vernacular, first
"her native tongue"
2.
(of a plant or animal) of indigenous origin or growth.
"these plants are native to North America"
synonyms: domestic, homegrown, homemade, local; indigenous
"native produce"

Sorry, but senators are elected to pass laws, not define words. What his OPINION about it is, is irrelevant. If someone is born in Hawaii, they are a Hawaiian. If someone is born in America, they are an American. It's not only the way the words are defined, it is the LAW.

Projection, much?

~ Hurr durr most americans believe things I say they do cause I'm the authority on majority American, Hawaiian Native American, Asian-American, and Mexican-American opinion. I decide what everyone thinks. Not even some people allowed to make up their own minds in my presumptive myopic deliberately ignorant revisionist view ~

I left a copy of indigenous to so you can educate yourself to what native meant in the context used by BlueNinja1 which you seem oblivious to even though it was defintion #2 in your own post.

Oh, so now you are implying that I have disowned the asian half of myself because I think you guys are race baiting morons? I'm proud of that half of my ancestry, however not so proud that I buy into hating on entire groups of people because they don't look like me. Or am I the Asian version of an uncle tom in your eyes because I believe that we should all be one group of people instead of constantly hating on each other over absolute nonsense. You fellows are exactly what you claim to hate, and it's sad to see. Is there a time limit on how long before being an invader or colonizer bars your descendents from being a native? Protip: most of modern day spaniards/french/britons are not Celtic. Are only those that live in Wales or Scotland and can prove direct lineage back a thousand years to be considered native britons? I mean the english, to be fair, are the descendents of repeated invasions from the continent, so they clearly don't have a claim, right?

"Or am I the Asian version of an uncle tom in your eyes because I believe that we should all be one group of people instead of constantly hating on each other over absolute nonsense."

Confessional much?
Pretty much sums up the psychi behind it. Self acceptance instead of denial will gain you more the respect of others.

Your self loathing, however, IS warranted due to your sniveling colicky diaper rash of a flea ridden personality.

PS: Recent DNA analysis has suprisingly indicated that 70% of the DNA of ALL English is Briton, not Germanic, as was naturally assumed.
0 ups, 7y
What nation is this Asian half your'e so proud of, btw? And the other half?
0 ups, 7y
And I don't have to prove anything to anyone. My passport says I'm an American. If I go overseas, I am called an American. The laws I follow are American, the government I pay taxes to is the USA. It's sad you think people need to "prove" being american. Isn't that what you guys are always blaming the right for? PS. Those 3 guys that got off the plane the other day to come home sure didn't look white to me. Yet somehow they were still considered American, gee whiz.

Why would I ever stop? You are the gift that keeps on giving. Wind up the box and the clown pops out to make you laugh.

So are you speaking from personal experience, or do you have some sort of link into the Asian psyche that let's you know how they all think? The towns would be.. cebu, Denver, Los angeles, and Louisville ky. All have seen plenty of interaction between both sides of my family, and yup. Hugs and kisses. Sorry to disappoint you.
0 ups, 7y
If you lived in ANY of them places and claim you never seen racism against yourself or anyone else, you are full of shit, you silly lad.
And if you are really that ignorant about Asian racism then your level of brain damage is almost enviable (as in bliss), providing it is not just an aspect of said shit.

Cebu? Which full circles this shebang. Native/Indigenous/Aboriginal Negritos ring any bells in that nonstop flatulating sphincter of a head you got?

Your lies are stupid, this is boring, you're a liar, I got stuff to do.

Be back later to see if you drowned in that ever deepening pool of fermented briny tears.
0 ups, 7y
Of course I have seen racism in those places, but none of it came from either side of my family directed towards the others. Nice attempt to discredit me, though. Shows just how intellectually lacking your arguments are that your only response is to accuse the other side of lies. By the way, still waiting to hear your side of the ancestry bit. Or have you changed your mind about being proud and owning who you are and where you came from?

No wonder you feel so lost and rejected, both halves at war with each other growing up was a doozy itself. Just be glad ya ain't got Japanese in there, it woulda made ya kill yourself long ago if ya weren't aborted first.

Triggered? Nah it's just fun letting you post all your garbage in the light for everyone to see. Chinese and Filipino at war with each other growing up? And since my ancestry is of such interest, how about yours? :)

btw, read your comments, you're the one that went ad hominem on everyone first. Guess you ran out of tissue trying to unplug your constipation.

If you don't know how racist Asians really are (especially the Chinese - how do you say "Round eyed dog" to refer to Caucasians? - and even more so the Japanese) then you musta been adopted. And if it was all hugs with the other half, then golly gee, what town is that?

Uh, I mentioned proving direct lineage to gaulic tribes. I skipped a couple rounds of conquest, though if you want to list them it would do wonders for my argument. Don't forget the tribes that invaded Roman Gaul before the Franks. Or the tribes that invaded Celtic Gaul before Caesar's campaign. Who are the true natives of France? Be thorough, you apparently expected me to give a full history of France.
0 ups, 7y
tbh, I didn't read your entire comment I had repied to, since you tend to babble the same ranting bs, so my bad.

But still, as was already said by YOU, ME, and thus WE (or do you not read YOUR c/p as well?), French, Celts, all the way East to Ukraine, with possible small pockets of Celtic looking (red hair, kilt pattern like dress) from modern day northern Iran through the Silk Road to Uighurstan back in the day.

That includes Spain, unless you're trying to play cutesy and snare me on pre-Aryan invasion Basque - the last of the original modern Europeans, post Cro Magnum, post post Neanderthal, Heidelbergensis... there's even recent indication that Denisovans night have lived in what is now Europe as well, but I'm geting bored with this.

I believe you stated elsewhere about being Asian? If that is the case, I get it, trying to fit in, growing up having to convince em all that yer jus' as 'Murican as thayum. Being part of a larger society is all fine and dandy, but blood is blood, denial is sad, pretending is plain ol' pathetic. You can be a part of it but also still be a part of yourself and be a part of your roots.

You got a massively constipated chip on your shoulder, perhaps it's time to remove it? And while you're at it, remove the even bigger one wedged way up your screaming bowels, because you're crying like biitch.
Smile, embrace yourself, and appreciate all the dimensions you encompass that make you, you. K, pardner?
0 ups, 7y
For that matter, how about Spain. Who are the true Iberians? Between romanization, islamic invasion, germanic kingdoms, and even carthaginian colonization, who in Spain can claim to be a native, by your reasoning?

Hawaiians in the years leading up to the cessetion after the illegal takeover of Hawai'i were jailed for speaking Hawaiian and dancing the hula. Now people like you are moving there and saying aloha and mahalo and wearing Hawaiian shirts and calling yourself Hawaiian or going on vacations there and going to luaus and indulging in the culture, meanwhile you loathe native Hawaiians and are trying to pretend they don't exist. You're everything that's ever been wrong with humanity.

Even surfing was made illegal for a time because it was part of their culture and a religious rite, a no no with the lovely missionaries.

Oh, I moved to Hawaii and I loathe native Hawaiians? I've never been to Hawaii, I never claimed to be Hawaiian, and honestly I don't really care about Hawaiians one way or another. What I am is the son of a legal immigrant to the USA, and all I hear is you talking about ethnicity while claiming to be anti-racist.
1 up, 7y
I said people like you but you obviously do loathe Native Hawaiians or you wouldn't be arguing your ridiculous point so passionately...
0 ups, 7y
Round Roman times, France was inhabited by Celtic people, hence it referred to as Celtic Gaul.
It was conquered by the Romans.
The Francs came much later.
0 ups, 7y
Oh, so because I believe common nationality is more important than ethnicity or that it's ridiculous that you think that the only people entitled to even HAVE a native land are those that aren't white, I hate hawaiians? So tell me, sir. Who are the natives of France? It's not a large majority of the current people living there under your "definition" of native. "France" was created by an invasion of german tribes, chiefly the Franks. Who is a true frenchman? Only those that can prove direct lineage to a gaulic tribesman? How about England? Are the English actually native englishmen? After all England is the result of both Saxon and Norman invasions, as well as Norse colonization. Do they not have a claim to call england their native land?

That was so awful. Did you hear that woman's 911 call? She said they obviously didn't belong there. What gave her that idea? And why didn't she, her husband, or the other dad who was so sure they didn't belong there just try to talk to the boys? Like really, calling 911? Wtf has the world come to?"

I only saw the story once, and it had just a small part of the call.

It's funny because you get people saying, "How can there be racism, we had that [{Commie Muslim Kenyan}] Obama!," same crap they said in the 80s with Jessy Jacksosn running, [{de-crowned}] Miss America Vanessa Wiliams, and The Cosby Show.

Saw a docu on tv about the racism Native Americans get, and some from Cali spoke of people telling them to go back to Mexico! Same happened recently to Arizona State Rep who is a Navaho at a protest, courtesy of Trumpites.

OOOPS! Better make sure my airbag is functioning properly, PhilTackett is gonna have another monumentous meltdown yapping, "NO! THEY DIDN'T SAY THAT!"

They showed up late for the tour, and caught up with the group once they'd already started going. Yeah it's a shitty situation, and she shouldn't have called the cops. But it wasn't just because they "looked odd" "

I know, was just trying to not contribute to your continuing aneurysm. It was because they looked Mexican.
Odd is the formal excuse, being into Death Metal and dressed expressing such (band tees, hair, accoutrements...), plus it was said they kept to the rear off the group and were laughing, thus, odd.
1 up, 7y
Yea I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have called 911 on them if they were Caucasian. Let's be real ... Did you hear about the woman who called 911 on a black family who were barbecuing at the park because they brought their own hibachi and weren't using the ones that the park had? Oh yeah and when she walked by them the mom gave her a dirty look?

Not only that, this week two Native American students were almost arrested by cops for looking odd at a college tour in Colorado, I believe. They were reported as looking Mexican, and thus, out of place.

No, I didn't hear that one, but the overabundance of these stories - and please note not a one citing a single case of someone meeting such treatment because they looked Anglo - doesn't surprise me. Seen it all my life (I've experienced it even), and I'm from the Bronx, where 2/3 of the population is foreign born or the children of and from all corners of the world.

I was just going throught the Rhianna/Pope thread, saw some of your comments downvoted to oblivion. I upvoted them, hopefully they show now.
So this is America, where parading plastic versions of what people don't at least know the background of circus style is freedom of expression, but expressing yourself in words is to be censored by these self-described open minded types. Oh, the irony!

If the downvotes are impairing your posting ability, let me know and I'll upvote you a bunch to counter it.

He didn't define the word. He reminded people what it means. And thanks for the English grammar lesson but Hawai'i is a Hawaiian word. When someone fills out an application or a census, one of the choices is Native Hawaiian. That refers to the indigenous people of Hawai'i. There are no boxes you can check that says New Yorker or Californian. If you move to Mexico are you going to call yourself Mexican? If you move to Japan are you going to tell people you're Japanese? You're ridiculous.
0 ups, 7y,
1 reply
Uh... yes, that's how that works. If you are a Mexican citizen, you are a Mexican. If you're a Japanese citizen, you are Japanese. If you moved there you aren't native, that doesn't change the fact that citizenship determines nationality. If someone from another part of the world moves to the USA and becomes a citizen, they are then AMERICAN. That's how it works. Or do you not consider immigrants to be american?
1 up, 7y,
1 reply
No I said if YOU move there are you going to call yourself Mexican. People want to call themselves Hawaiian because of imperialist attitudes and because Hawai'i became cool in the past 60-70 years. But the reality is there are indigenous people of Hawai'i who are the actual Hawaiians and thanks to people like you and the institutional genocide that's going on there they are in danger of getting wiped out.
0 ups, 7y,
1 reply
If I was allowed to chose to accept mexican citizenship when I moved there, YES. I would call myself a mexican, because that is what I would be by INTERNATIONAL LAW. However, that isn't what I was talking about with native Hawaiians. I said those that are BORN in Hawaii are native, regardless of their ethnicity. They may not be ethnic hawaiians, but they ARE native hawaiians, and for you to act like they aren't is what is rediculous. If they aren't native Hawaaians after being born there, where are they natives of? England? Some other place they've never physically been to in their lives? Lunacy.
1 up, 7y,
2 replies
YOU would never call yourself one of those people you're so giddy over getting kicked out and kept out by that stupid wall. And in this case, Native Hawaiian is an ancestry, an ethnicity, a race of indigenous people. If you're born in America you're not a Native American. If you move here you become a citizen just like moving to Hawaii makes you a resident. The problem is people moving there with no culture of their own to identify with who glom onto Hawaiian culture then try to exclude the real Hawaiians. There are plenty of non-self loathing people of other cultures who move there and maintain themselves as Korean, Filipino, Portuguese, etc.

Of course I know, I just don't care. I thought the meme was funny and laughing > getting offended. Maybe your group of friends tiptoe around broken glass, but around here if someone makes a joke about asian lack of peripheral vision I can make a joke about how they f**ked their cousin. Jokes are not a big deal. What is a big deal are people who consistently push an ideology that determines everything based on your ethnicity. If you are this color, you can't do this. If you are that color, you're allowed to do that. That's absolute nonsense.
1 up, 7y
So you're saying that ridiculing someone's race is fine, but you find offensive a person from that race explaining the appropriate manner of utilizing something appropriated from their culture?

That's some fine lopsided logic there.
0 ups, 7y,

So you're saying the average american has no culture now? Basically what you're saying is if you adopt parts of the culture of another ethnicity you are self-loathing and cultureless? Do you realize how much of a racist you sound like? Take what you just said and swap Hawaiian for "White American" and Hawaii for the USA you'd sound just like the alt right you seem to hate so much. I also find it hilarious that right after I state flat out that yes, I would call myself a Mexican if I were a Mexican citizen, you decide that no, I would never do so. Apparently after repeatedly insisting that the mexicans who were here after the Mexican Cession are full legal US citizens with all the rights that entails, I want to kick them all out. Either you can't read or you have mental issues.
1 up, 7y
Or didn't you know?
1 up, 7y
Who is the "average American?" Do you even know what that looks like anymore? And no, I'm not talking about Americans specifically at all. I'm talking about anyone who moves there and tries to call them self a Hawaiian while hating on Hawaiians. Why aren't you calling the guy who made the meme a racist? Or is the term redneck totally ok with you?
0 ups, 7y
