Me I don't care, repost, new meme, whatever, I'm here to have fun. When i first joined IMGFLIP i didn't know a thing about memes so everyone of them was new to me, so repost brought me laughs. Yes if you are on here long enough its like ""Oh no not that meme again", what people have to realize is there is a lot of turn over on here (IMGFLIP) so things will get recycled. I made "original memes" when I started only to find out that someone obviously thought of it before me, so sometimes repost are not intentional. Making your own original memes is awesome and I fully promote it, but also will not criticize every repost that comes along (Unless say its a front page one and the next day someone else copy and paste it, then I shall just downvote it) I still see memes that are called out repost that I've never saw before and I've been on here 2 years. But trust me I full promote originality and home made memes, its nice to see people open up with their creative side and bring new laughs to IMG that can be shared the world around.

I would go along with a lot of what you said there. I would also suggest that if you are going to repost, find a way to spice it up a bit. Also if you found it in google images and there are 20 versions of it, chances are most of us have seen it.

But there it is all featured.

It was like this for everyone. All of us were complaining to each other about how our memes weren't getting featured. My meme about the bee in the soda can finally got featured after 16 hours, and then I saw that everyone else's were magically featured. Some of them said they submitted sometime last night too. So weird.

To bad img wouldn’t mass email everyone when there is a glitch to prevent speculation.

No one ever hears from them on anything. It doesn't surprise me that this situation was any different, although it's disappointing.

What was really strange was my 3rd submission from Saturday (about 6 or 7) Didn't make it out until after 9pm Sunday. As a bonus I lost my 3rd submission for Sunday because of that.

Yeah, what I've noticed lately are a lot of what might be called 'top-notch' users whining about reposting and unoriginality. Hey folks, not everyone has been on here as long as you. Like you I've seen new-to-me memes I've happily upvoted and commented on, only to have someone start ragging on it as done previously. BFD. Most people can't look back in time to see if something's been done, nor should they; there's a likelihood the 'original' has been done elsewhere before anyway. It seems as if a lot of this whining is taking on the 'I was here first' tinge that makes for full-blown twats. I'm with you, dude. :)

It's nice to have some of us grizzled vets be understanding. ;)

Now THAT would be wrong.

There's a difference between reposting a meme idea and completely copy and paste off of Google images an entire meme and then claim credit for it in the comments. The latter is where I have a problem. They very well know it's been done when they specifically copy it, font and all, from Google images and slap it on here.

Like I said to Mr. Jingles, THAT would be wrong. It's just that lately I've seen some users throw too much of a fit when someone new on site not familiar with the material already presented does an 'old' - but not old to them - meme again and some of the elites on here throw a fit. Go after the people who obviously cheat, and who game the system, but if a newbie makes a 'mistake' then you should be helpful and not snobby. Guide 'em, not grill 'em. Because those are the people who might be voting on one's own sh!t eventually.

Agreed on guiding the newbies. Problem is some of the worst on here are not newbies. Point is, if it's ok for someone to do as they please as far as posting whatever they want, which it is, the same has to be said about it being ok to call someone out on it. Freedom is freedom.

P.S.S. Definitely agree about going after the cheaters. There is so much strange activity that goes on here with users sometimes! Lmao!!

Oh, I agree with the freedom for calling the cheaters. But a couple of high-up users had reactions way out of proportion to the crime, to the point where it seemed less like taking someone to account and more like 'how dare these whippersnappers try and take my place among the mighty?!?' There have been some top cats who have shown a bit of a selfish side lately and I think, while some of this discussion about reposting is legitimate, I think some of it is smoke and mirrors to mask an attempt to bring down some newbies who these users don't care for due to their success. I've seen a couple typed tantrums lately, it's turned me off on some users I've had lots of contact with.

This place has changed so much just since I've been here. I can't imagine how much it's changed for those of you that have been here for years. Crazy!

It goes in cycles. Except for a few at the top there's been quite a bit of turnover. I've been around since November of 2015, so two-and-a-half years (seems longer). Older users leave and new ones come on. Lately I thought that the new users seemed to be funnier and the trolls less active, but on that last point I've been keeping my head down to avoid it. I just think some of the complaining from up top seems to be self-absorbed. I've been avoiding some people myself.

And here I am trying to get away from seriousness on here. ;P

Very nice how you validated both sides. I wholly agree. I typically upvote it if it was funny. Sometimes, I can have heard the joke before, but... if I still laugh... My favorite is the original though.

Same, I love the original but still get laughs out of repost, and many repost are still new to me.

Very true. I started out the same way, the vast majority of memes were new to me. Once I had been on a little over a year, I had seen the vast majority of reposts. It’s not the greatest seeing the same memes over and over but it happens.

I remember my newbie days back in late 2015 - early 2016. The front page memes were funny, some of them from the best meme makers, and I was able to chat with them on how awesome their meme was! Good times. I miss those days! Nowadays, people get their panties in a twist over the stupidest things, I see arguments everywhere, and it's hard to have much fun on the front page. I just seclude myself to my profile, and a few of my favorite meme makers, and even now, they are becoming less active, or they (le gasp) DELETE THEIR ACCOUNT! I can see why long-time veteran users can't seem to have fun anymore! :(
