It's happened accidentally to others on this site. And it's bound to happen again. Who has the time to check for each meme idea anyways? :)

I know I don't! But I have to say that whole scandal was hilarious today!

I would agree, if it weren't that it's gotten so rampant on the site. Many times they are copying text and all, not bothering to do anything creative. It is supposed to be a site fostering creativity and celebrating it. With that being said, accidents do happen. One I made a year or so ago made the front page this week. A different but similar image was used and the wording changed slightly. Coincidence? Could be and I knew the user to be someone that normally doesn't repost as best as I can tell. Context says a lot.

You're not wrong! I think if someone is going to knowingly repost because it's funny and they want to circulate again they should at least own up to it. I can see some accidents happening. And no one is going to stop and check out their submission to make sure someone else hasn't already done it. That particular post from what is now yesterday, had not been widely circulated. I was only able to spot one more post exactly like it from almost a year ago. At least that's what google showed.
All that aside, I do enjoy creativity and coming up with ways to make fun of real life frustrations. I feel like if I can't find a way to laugh at that which irritates me, it will drive me crazy.

If I spot one I just keep scrolling too I may not down vote, but I definitely don't up vote. I didn't even know it was a repost because I had never seen it before. I think that situation from yesterday may thwart a few copy cats for a bit. Because they may be afraid of getting called out. I don't think anyone wants to get busted like that and get that reputation.

Yeah, that's kind of rough. I know I got called out on one that truly was a an original thought to me, but had been done a year earlier. If I hadn't taken 3 hours to get right and been at the top of the front page I would have deleted it. But I did explain to the other person that posted it and acknowledged it. It happens sometimes. (BTW it was a Dark Side Of The Moon pie chart, a bitch to get right:)

I would die if that happened to me. I would likely never call someone out unless I really thought they actually stole my idea.But the problem is ideas don't get yanked from the universal idea pool once we use them unfortunately. Our brains would be like, "Sorry, that idea is already in use, try again!" LOL!
