The were worse, back in the day, when networks were the ones that set when you could watch them. Now, thanks to the interwebs, you can binge watch as long you want. I've gotten into anime thanks to my grandkids. I often marvel at the originality of a story, as well as how other writers copy the idea and give it their own spin. Now, Instead of wading through a year of waiting on episodes, I can sit and watch a full season in a few days. Still, I have to wait the week on new shows that come out, but I'm not bound by that schedule. I've got two shows scheduled to air today at 4, but odds are I won't watch them until around 9. Polar opposite as far as type of shows, but I enjoy them with the grand kids.
