The last couple of memes I submitted had a combined views of 15. Imgflip made it more difficult to have your memes seen.

Just my theory, I think imgflip changed the way views are counted sometime after the Viral pages experiment ended mid January 2018.

I think in the older code, if a user scrolled by your meme in Latest or Hot, that counted as a view. Appears that now views only count if a user "enters" a creation, ie where they can comment or reply.

If that is the way views are counted now, a user could upvote while scrolling past (without "entering") thus more upvotes than views are possible, as well as high upvote to view ratios, both of which I have seen a lot of since mid January.

That makes so much sense now....

The viewing algorithm has changed. There are nowhere near as many views as there once was, with memes getting 5-50 views in most cases, unless it somehow gains steam and makes it to the top pages. AndrewFinlayson might be on to something, but I really don't know for sure.

So how come the Imgflip "powers that be" are never forthright (or accountable) for anything concerning their website? I mean, even on other social media websites, there's some kind of spokesperson that is always available (and accountable) to answer questions and be responsible to its viewers and users. I think it's abnormal for viewers (or users) of a website such as Imgflip to be constantly walking around scratching theirs heads as to what the mechanics of the site are and how everything works. Actually, I think it's irresponsible. I mean, what is this.....the Wizard of Oz?

I agree 100%. On the feedback page it clearly states, that if you'd like a response to your issue, to include your email address. I've contacted them a couple times (granted, I'm still pretty new to imgflip) and have yet to get a response. So, I guess that is kind of irresponsible. Not a very good way to serve your constituents.

I can definitely relate to you InarenCorp. I've posted memes before (albeit with different templates) and posted them and they went nowhere. But then, someone else (someone in the top ten or whatever) comes along and posts the same meme and it makes the front page with a different template! Favoritism? I'd like to think this is not so. But you never know because there is never any "spokesperson" available on Imgflip's website to explain the mechanics of how everything works. It's frustrating. I guess you just take your chances? I mean, let's just say that on Facebook, if you ever had any questions concerning anything about the mechanics of that website, there are a million things that you can click on to find out how to navigate that site. Ultimately, I whole heartily think that the website known as IMGFLIP (and those powers that be) need to be more interactive with the users that correspond and "use" their website. Questions? Replies?

Yeah. I agree with all that I think. Although I believe there is less favoritism and more recognition difficulty. People always see the popular users' memes and so they make the front page. Since they do they get more and more popular.
That's why I said an Imgflip president should be voted for. He would post links on his memes/streme of no-name users images he liked. That way everyone would look at his stuff and see more funny memes of less known 'flippers.

If they state that it's borrowed and don't do it often, I have no problem with it.

But when they deny it, some even posting THE meme they found instead of copying it, goodness.
The Mods have been cracking down on that lately. One established memer, Swiggys_back, is threatening to leave claiming they're trolling him for busting him on this (he says they are old ones he had made elsewhere). Another, MemesMasterProductions, is currently 'warring' with me because he keeps losing memes doing it, yet thinks I'm to blame somehow simply because I posted him a link to another explaining why it happened.

Do these people not have pride?

People whine and say I'm a "repost whiner" when I point out I've seen a meme before so I don't think it's funny. I've stopped that that while because I think someone asked me to stop, but it's funny that people get so offended when I say they reposted.

Same here, the front page is full of it, many of the popular memers do it, no one's gonna stop doing it, so I leave it be.
But if the subject gets brought up and they blatantly lie in defense, I will jump in. I've even Googled the original and posted it (some of the reposted stolen ones still bear the watermark of origin) a couple of times.
