Besides the fact that most liberals don't want to confiscate all guns, you're suggesting the contradiction "Laws don't work" and "Laws will work" which is obviously a contradiction in this context. There is a discontinuity between the effect of these laws which you yourself conform to.
I.e. If one says that gun laws won't work because criminals will still obtain illegal firearms, it is not implicit that they are for the legalization of pot for the same reasons, or that they against any other laws for that matter.

Grenades are rare, but they are some who uses them. Of course they are not your average bum looking to rob $5 from a pizza delivery boy.

The big drug cartels that operate in Mexico and across states such as Texas does use grenades. They sometimes build the weapons in Mexico and sometimes they buy them from Central American countries that previously had civil wars.
Do you think such groups are going to see a "no hand grenade allowed" sign and just leave their boom eggs at home? No. They will use them in the US all the same to protect their shipments. And they do.

But just as long as the US citizen is disarmed, who cares what other groups have or do. No one cares about what these people do to Americans living near the Mexican boarder.
You need proof for that, just start telling people those facts. And when they start denying it you will know they don't give a damn about what is going on. If it's not on the big screen at their finger tips, they are clueless.

Really, what dictates what's still on the streets after being banned is the demand. Nobody really wants lawn darts, and grenades were easier to make at home then to buy on the streets. However, drugs and guns have a huge demand. That's why in most places (besides new York) with gun laws aren't utopias where nobody ever dies from gunshot. Same thing with drugs. Do you think we would be educating our youth about the danger of drugs if banning them would magically get rid of all of them?
