Chicago is currently 9th in the nation's cities in terms of gun homicides. And what we find with conservatives is that they don't really care about even enforcing existing laws, they even find ways to get more guns into more hands by making laws more permissive. At least registering guns would help with solving some crimes as well.

Um...when you buy a gun from a dealer it is automatically registered in your name. I can't believe you didn't know that.

Would the difference be that most victims in gang related shootings are minorities while more of the victims of suburban mass shootings are predominantly white? Or is it that more people die each year in gang related shootings than in the mass shootings?

Either way, these are serious problems that need serious action. Can't help but notice the common denominater in both situations ie. guns. In regards to the gang life, you're a product of your environment, you gonna live the thug life you gonna die the thug life. Poverty, unemployment, crime, all issues that need to be addressed by the orange cheetoh in charge, I do believe thats his job. Schools on the other hand , kids wanna learn Aristotle, not how to hide in an attack.

It is not the federal governments job to manage the poverty, unemployment, and crime at local levels, that is what local governments are for. And if they fail the state government can help out. It is called dissemination of power. Have you ever rred the Constitution, the amendments, and Bill of Rights?

Assault rifles are not semiautomatic. Try finding the real definitions before entering a debate so we can move on to the important parts of the discussion.

Um actually, they are semi automatic (as opposed to fully automatic). But most guns are now.

Fully automatic: gun will continue firing so long as you hold the trigger down
Semi automatic: one trigger pull releases one bullet, but there is no need to cock the gun in between firings
Assault rifle: Any gun that looks scary, but works the same as any other hunting rifle
Bump stock: an outside modification that allows semi automatic weapons to behave in similar manner to fully automatic fully automatic weapons.

These are admittedly, simplified definitions, but for the sake of discussion they will do.
Most handguns and rifles currently on the market are semi automatic.
