I'm not someone who chats a lot on imgflip, but Socrates and GhostofChurch were two people that commented on some of my memes early on. Sad to see GhostofChurch go. He seemed a like a good guy. I hope no one else commits IMGFLIP suicide.

Imgflip is ever evolving and people come and go...the best you can do is remain true to yourself and try not to get all caught up in the bullshit and drama.

As much as I enjoy it here, I am under no illusion it is just a transitional place. People will always come and go as they wish. I've been through a few online communities over the years. Have been a constant presence on one forum for almost 10 years but eventually just grew out of it.

Like in any sufficiently large community you're always going to get your share of detractors. This site had been a great place for me to learn how to handle that. Staying true to yourself is really the most important thing we do in anything. There will always be forces trying to push you in different directions or even pull you apart.

IMGFLIP ought to have a activate-deactivate button, like Facebook does. I just think it’s a shame to delete an account and lose all those memes, ya know.

I'll say it was a lot easier to keep track of all the big users just two years ago, but it was almost too simple four years ago. I like having more traffic on the site, but you kind of have to take the bad with the good.

You definitely have to take the bad with the good...but in a lot of ways, sometimes the bad makes the good feel that much better...

Just imagine literally a hand full of users who always considered themselves the cool kids and then there were the rest. If you think that's the way it is now, not exactly.

To get on the leaderboard now, you pretty much need 40,000-60,000 points minimal. It used to be just a couple hundred to get on. If you had 5-10 thousand in one week, you'd be the top user.

It wasn't until mid 2014 when the site got more interesting. Users like Entertainer28 and XenusianSoldier were dominating the leaderboard.

There weren't any "theme weeks." And it didn't seem as community based.

The mods were a little more outspoken back then.

Seems like a mod sighting is a shock now. :D

I know of only two mods, but only one will randomly say something. You have better luck winning the lottery.
